I did shellac for my wedding and did not like it. Granted it stayed in place better than the non-shellac they used on my toes, but when it begins to chip it looks awful and they can't touch it up as well.

Any other suggestions? I don't want tips, and nail polish never stays on me for longer than like 3 hrs....

get a nice natural buffed manicure

or don't get french (gross) and buy the polish they put on you so you can touch it up the day of if needed

^ i'm going with Erica. find a nail polish you like - get a nice manicure. and then either retouch the polish (maybe have a bridesmaid or girl friend who is good at applying it do it) the morning of.

i don't know where you go to get your manicures but where i go - my manicure will last at least a week before the polish starts chipping off.....and this is even after i've cleaned the house and scrubbed pots and pans.

^ tell me where you go. I rarely keep polish on my hands just because it does come off so easily. although my nails also used to be more fragile than they are now. Thank you LK and Biotin. So it may be better now.

i go to Pacific Nail in the Harris Teeter shopping center on Tryon Road (the shopping center is called Tryon Woods). it's at the intersection of Tryon and Walnut Street. I think a manicure is like $15? I don't know off the top of my head, normally I get a mani/pedi and that's $35 total.

I like Natural Body in North Hills...they don't use the UV ray shit to dry your nails...

How's the price there?

Also, I think I already know the answer but how do you about colored polish on fingers for the wedding? Other than neutrals?

I don't see a problem with color polish

if it fits you then do it

I just hate french manicures...so Bridezillas

Natural Body's menu says $30...its so good, you get a hand massage and everything. Very relaxing

i found out this about the youngest one:

At 18, he gained control of his US$1.5 million trust fund, which he accused his parents of squandering by purchasing themselves a mansion.

weeeee I bought stuff

I got this dress H&M for a wedding I'm going to early October (evening wedding in Beaufort) and to wear the following weekend at piddlebug's rehearsal luncheon

I also went in to Sephora with the sole intention of buying gray nail polish, but I didn't like it as much as I thought. I did however walk out with these three (sorry the photos are large...I looked for smaller ones )

dress is really cute, what shoes are you going to pair it with. i also like the last 2 colors, not a fan of brown on nails.

I've got two pairs of black heels that I'm pondering. One is open toe and looks like the material of the dress and the other is a closed patten which would match the belt.

The brown polish doesn't look as brown as the photo I found...but I like it

^isn't that fun!? I'm gonna put that on now I think

hey piddlebug...you should wear something like the last color I posted on your nails for your wedding day very you. just my 2 cents on the matter!

you should try a light coat of polish #1 topped with polish #3

I bet that would be pretty!

ya know, now that i have #3 on I was thinking something similar. a buff color underneath just to hide the natural change in color from the tip of the nail to the base at least. but I will try out your suggestion too

Diva...as much as I would love to buy new shoes! But if I were to buy new shoes...the belt is black. No biggie in the color difference? I trust you!!

if it helps...I'm wearing a black dress today (with that sorta neck like your dress..except mine has a cap sleeve), skinny leopard belt, and cognac brown wedges

those two browns I posted are pretty neutral and can be work with just about anything

(and I didn't mean for you to buy new shoes...that style just popped in my head when I saw the dress)

its a super cute shape!

Love that H&M dress. How much was it, if you don't mind??

And I really love that first pair of shoes DivaBaby posted. I may have to get both.

And you reminded me I need to go to Sephora. This thread makes me spend money.

Love the dress and paint colors LK!!!!!!!!! BTW - you look great!

I just got home from Ann Taylor Loft. They're running a big sale on fall sweaters, tanks, tops, and blouses. I got a black 3/4 sleeve cardigan, a gray 3/4 sleeve cardigan, 2 spaghetti strap tanks (one in cream and one in light gray), a black tank, and a light blue long sleeve (but roll up sleeves) button up top with a ruffle down the middle. I spent $117

I have received a ton of coupons from Loft that I can start using next week into the first week of October so I probably will go back again in a few weeks and get the rest of my fall/winter stuff (I have coupons for 'get $250 of clothes for $125')

I have a question...just something that I've been thinking about...

So I haven't had a period since June of last year....then Monday I started to bleed, I figured it was a period, but I bleed for less than a day and it's over...I mean is that a period, or what the hell is it?

Anyone have this happen too? Or know what is going on?

^^^What kind of bc are you on? And why do you think you haven't had a period? My sister has an IUD and she hasn't had a period since she started, but will occasionally spot for a day or so.

But if this is new for you, or you don't know the underlying reason for not having a period, you should get it checked out, as a precaution.

So when you say June, do you mean June 2010 or June 2011? When was the last time you went to the doctor? I know PCOS can cause irratic periods but if it's bee over a year since your period you night want to get it checked out just to be sure.

On another note, serious shopping issues here. I went to Marshalls yesterday because my boyfriend and his coworker were at the house working and I ended up getting a great pair of skinny dark wash Paige jeans for $70 (originally like $150) and a pair of super cute Banana Republic sunglasses for $10.

I had to get new jeans again because the size 29 Joe Jeans I bought in July are too big and I'm now a size 28. Marshalls also had Joe Jeans and I tried on a few pairs but I wanted a new pair of skinny jeans (I have a pair of skinny ankle size 30 Joe Jeans I LOVE but they're way too big now) and the Paige jeans fit really well.

I mean June of 2010.

Which was also the month after the last time I went to the doctor....I don't like doctors and I only like to go if I really really think I should go.

If I were you, I would strongly consider going just to make sure everything is okay and it is the PCOS and not an underlying issue. That's a very long time to go without having a period.

You probably need to get a cycle of provera to clean you out. Ive had to do that a few times. Also, go to the doctor and talk about getting on metformin. It will help your body process carbs better, making you feel better and lose weight. It causes some tummy issues that will get better as you start to understand what your body can and cannot handle.
