a few things from some pretty reputable Rivals.com posters:
Torian Graham has awful grades and that is part of the reason he hadn't even figured out where he would be playing high school ball...His commitment to State was more of a good PR move for State at the time. Apparently he really would have a hard time qualifying.
He says Kentucky is his favorite right now, but Kentucky hasn't offered and they seem to have figured out why not to offer him (at least at this time....they are going after Archie and Shabazz Muhammad still).
Also, apparently Torian and TJ Warren don't like each other, so Torian's decommit could help us with TJ Warren, although right now TJ seems to be leaning towards UNC.
Purvis' decision could come later than expected- and it may not be State or Mizzou. There's a few other teams that seem to be getting in the mix and the longer he lingers out there the more I get the feeling that he may end up somewhere out of left field...he may extend into winter before he commits. No one really knows because he's doing a good job of not talking about it.
Feeling pretty solid on Amile Jefferson for now.

First...who gives a shit. He either comes here or he doesn't. I don't care if it's grades or because he fell in love with some skank at another school. He's either here or he isn't.
Second...even though the majority of posters on PP are looney bins...Packinsider guys are youngins who try and become butt-buddies with all of the Pack players and recruits. They rarely have anything negative to say about recruits or players.8/11/2011 1:16:08 PM |

Just because someone's parent played at a school doesn't mean they were "raised" as a fan.
Not saying it isn't the case...but I don't think all former players have as strong a tie to the school as die-hard fans think they do. The majority of players didn't grow up as fans of that school (except for Duke/UNC) and a lot don't stay connected after they leave.
So it's not like Warren grew up with tons of NC State gear and memorabilia all over the house. He probably grew up watching UNC and Duke dominate and their players were probably his favorites.
I wouldn't take it as that big of a deal if he committed to UNC over State. 99.9% of all high school players would commit to UNC over State if given the choice.8/16/2011 9:31:56 AM |

Quote : | "Amile Jeffesson impressed by visit to NC State
Amile Jefferson's 24-hour unofficial visit to NC State on Friday and Saturday left him impressed.
The 6-foot-8, 197-pound Jefferson from Philadelphia Friends Central High is getting recruited by NC State, Ohio State, Maryland, Temple, Villanova, UCLA, Stanford, Texas and St. John's, are all recruiting him heavily. Rivals.com ranks Jefferson No. 33 in the country and the No. 10 power forward, and his recruitment for the Wolfpack has been led by assistant coach Rob Moxley.
Jefferson used the last few days to reflect back on his trip to Raleigh, and he was full of praise.
Philadelphia Friends Central High senior forward Amile Jefferson took an unofficial visit to NC State on Friday and Saturday. "I thought it went good," Jefferson said. "It was great to finally get to meet and interact with the coaches. The players weren't back on campus yet, but just spending time with Coach Moxley and Coach [Mark] Gottfried. I got to interact with all the coaches and learn more about them."
The energy of NC State's new coaching staff impressed Jefferson.
"You can feel that the school and the people around are just yearning for something big to happen," Jefferson said. "You can feel their passion to bring NC State back to where the fans and the people that know the school and the tradition where it want it to be."
The NCSU coaches were able to give Jefferson a vision on how his inside-outside scoring skills could be used at forward.
"Coach runs the UCLA offense, so he just showed me the spots where I can be effective on the floor, push the ball and rebound," Jefferson said. "They run those little plays from the elbow and double screens for guys, and that point forward pick and roll."
Jefferson was surprised by the feel of the campus in comparison to the colleges he's seen in Philadelphia.
"I didn't realize how big the campus was," Jefferson said. "It was really nice and almost like it's own little city. That was definitely good to get a better feel for the campus, and just the school in general."
Jefferson was thoroughly impressed by NC State's basketball facilities, which is a common refrain from recruits. He likened the RBC Center to an NBA arena.
"The facilities were magnificent and the RBC Center was great," Jefferson said. "The atmosphere has to be crazy. Just imagine when all those seats are filled and things like that."
Being in a college sports crazy area also rubbed off on Jefferson.
"You definitely get that vibe, from the time you step down there on the campus, walking around and touring and things like that, you got the feel that it was all about the college and the school," Jefferson said.
Jefferson, who was joined by his father Malcolm Musgrove, was able to meet athletic director Debbie Yow and Chancellor Randy Woodson. Jefferson enjoyed listening to Yow and Musgrove discuss the key points of his future.
"I thought she was great," Jefferson said. "She was amazing. I know my dad really liked her personally. They had a great conversation.
"The Chancellor was also amazing. I didn't realize he was that young. You can tell he had great energy and was so supportive of the basketball team at a school like that. They didn't really have to say anything about their love for the game, you can just tell."
Jefferson will have five official visits to use starting Sept. 1. He plans on making an unofficial visit to both UCLA and Stanford while out for the Boost Mobile Elite 24 outdoor all-star game in Venice Beach, Calif., which will be played on ESPNU on Aug. 27.
NC State will be given strong consideration for one of his official visits.
"I will definitely take an official visit there," Jefferson said. "I thought everything went well. I think I'm still open because I haven't seen a lot, but I thought it was great. I'm definitely looking forward to learning more about the school. I want to learn more about the players and spend time with them."" |
