i have gross feet. I don't like to wear socks and only do so in the late fall/winter. I can tell winter is coming because my skin is getting super dry. i'm gonna have to try some super advanced healing lotion soon.

It's probably too late but Alpine Ski Center in the summer is the BEST place to get jackets. They clearance out all of last year's stuff usually in July and August. David got a waterproof Columbia snowboarding jacket with detachable fleece for $50 two years ago. Sucker was almost $300 full price.

@diva, the REI brand rain jackets are good, as well as most anything else you'd find in a REI. i really like first ascent (eddie bauer) though. llbean & land's end are good choices too, but they tend to run a little boxier than other brands.

i had a columbia titanium 3in1 jacket for a bajillion years until i wore the fleece part slam out. the titanium line is the only stuff of columbia's i would buy, but i tend to be a jacket snob. all of first ascent's stuff is meant to layer, and even the big fluffy mountain guide jacket will go under the bc200 rain shell...but then you have to buy 2 separate jackets. they don't make 3in1s.

i have way, way too many jackets.
