All those articles are sophistry.

- The fact of the matter is that a big name coach isn't required. Our best coaches were up-and-comers spotted by ADs with an eye for talent and good connections.

- We don't even need to beat Duke and UNC most of the time. We had piss poor records against them when we were actually good at basketball. Turns out that making elite eights and final fours are more important.

- And achieving success is simply a matter of getting the right coach. Basketball is not like football where it takes a long time to build or compete. I have no doubt that Calipari would have recruited as well as Roy or K if at NCSU. It's mostly about the coach.

- While there may be a lot of internet pressure (fake pressure) on our coaches to win, the fact is our average coaching tenure is 6+ years, even for the shittiest of shitty. The hook has been much quicker at other, top programs.

These national articles are way off on the facts, and the NCSU fans who are quick to agree with them are idiots. You have to be a total loser yourself to so quickly accept someone else's argument that you are going to be a loser forever. I know people like this in real life, and they are absolutely pathetic.

Just watched Seth Davis' lecture to us State fans. While most of what he said is true (he said be patient...not necessarily with Lowe), I thought the line about "As long K and Roy are on the sidelines, NC State is destined to play 3rd fiddle on Tobacco Rd" was funny. Was Duke "destined to play 3rd fiddle" when Sloan/V and Dean were on the sidelines? Hell no...that's why they're one of the premier programs in the nation. And the simple fact that he talked to/about State fans like we were 5 year olds being punished was just laughable (also embarrassing).

Not directly related to Seth Davis' video, but why the hell are these national analysts so concerned with the inevitable job opening at little ol' NC State?

I can accept that we suck now (any rational person has to accept that), but for someone to tell me that I, or we as a fanbase, have to accept that we're always going to suck is complete garbage. There isn't a divine right of kings type thing when it comes to winning. It wasn't pre-ordained that Duke, UNC, Kentucky, etc. would always be the top programs in the country any more than it was pre-ordained that State should always be happy to just make the tournament. Circumstances have dictated that that has been the case, but I'll be damned if we should listen to someone who's telling us that circumstances can't change and that we're always going to be a joke.
