I HATE WGS 210. For many reasons. Normally, it's because the readings require us to think about how males think about sex all the time and it's impossible to be a successful woman and here's why you should feel oppressed.
But this time, it's a problem with the teaching itself.

Teachers: If you want us to post on a discussion board, expect us to discuss things, not to summarize articles over and over again.
I just got feedback on a post saying that I didn't write what the article says and express the author's viewpoint. No, that is true, I did not. I gave a brief two sentence summary and then delved into my own opinion and gave possible solutions (which *was* part of the assignment). If you want an active discussion board, don't ask us what the article said... ask us our opinions about it. If you want a successful class, don't critique students who have differing opinions from the authors.

I was considering giving the teacher a little more credit, because her response was rather long, and it was providing a different argument, but then I realized that she was just explaining to me what the author actually meant. No, I was not misinterpreting the author. I was saying my opinion. Gah.

well then yes, definitely... like I said, if you know someone is about to get into a toxic (and possibly dangerous) relationship, then the right thing would be to let them know about past incidents. And if you could give two shits what the asshat thinks, then there should be nothing stopping you. just be careful about how you approach it because you don't want to make the girl feel bad/awkward/ashamed, or make her think you are butting in where you don't need to. eggshells shall be treaded!

I mean she seems pretty excited and she should, new relationships are fun and shit. I don't want to shit on that and come across as meddling or a parade rainer or anything like that. And I'm not completely positive she'd even heed my warning which would make the whole thing futile, honestly I seriously doubt she'd heed it. She'd probably just convince herself that people can change and such.

I think maybe the best course of action is to not pursue it unless it comes up in conversation, sometimes people just have to learn on their own
