I'm just glad they invented a way to make playing video games look even lamer.

And seriously, I wish I could install the updates so I could spend money on games I could easily emulate for free on my computer.

I'm being serious, too

they had 15 wii's at the toys r us in cary and number sixteen in line tried to convince everyone that my boyfriend (number 3) had broken in line. he was a fucking nc state marching band clarinet player too. i've lost my respect for fellow band geeks. everyone else vouched for him.

I can get the Wii Store, but I can't get "News" or "Forecast." It says I need another update, and when I go to update it tells me I am current. Is there any word on the "Internet Channel?" I was getting excited thinking I would be able to check email on this thing.

Also, I'm a wolf and I can't find the key in the forest

Otherwise, OMFG badass.

^^yeah I'm confused as well.

the only way that 14 other people went with the 16th guy was one of two options.

A. your BF did skip line
B. your BF is a really big douche

my guess is that the line vouched for the BF. the 12 people he passed would have kicked his ass

Ok, so how is it? Is it "fun"? Cause that's what I'm going for.

Impressed? Not impressed?

Please give me your short evaluations.

I AM PISSED.

I kept getting error 110213 (WiiConnect24 error) after I downloaded and installed the first update, whenever I tried to connect to the internet...I thought it was just Nintendo's servers having an insane amount of traffic. But, nope, my unit is defective. I have to ship it back to Nintendo and wait 8-12 days to get it back. WTF

(Ok so I won't know this for sure until I call them up but it looks like this is the case..)

I am super impressed. I really thought that the controller would have a steeper learning curve but I picked it up really quickly. I have only been able to play Zelda for like 15 mins because my roommates/other people were curious and wanted to see what all the hubbub was about, so I played lots of Wii Sports and some Monkey Ball for the multiplayer. The boxing game in Wii Sports is awesome, I broke a sweat a few times playing it, the tennis one is really fun too. My dad has a huge projector TV that I am gonna hook the Wii up to over Thanksgiving, then I am gonna have an amazing time playing Zelda.

^^^ I love it. My arm is sore from playing Wii Sports. I thought the controller was going to suck but now I think it's awesome. Takes a few mins to get used to but it has so much potential.

^^Sucks man. I hate you had to get the short straw. Shit like that happens on new releases. Hopefully that 8-12 days will be a little quicker.

^yeah I'm looking forward to taking it to my parents house. I think they'll get a kick out of it.

OMFG ... Wii is the most awesome game system ever.

Screw PS3 and XBox 360 ... the Wii Remote (Wiimote) concept is outstanding.

Haha. Me too. We were playing Tennis and Boxing at a friends place and I actually broke a sweat. It is much better than I expected.

I've got two older siblings (+1 BF) and my little sister coming in from up north for thanksgiving. I thought a Wii would be tons of fun but didn't camp out. I guess we'll play double dash for now, maybe wii for christmas. And of course, there's sims 2. ha. Glad to hear it's more fun than I thought it'd be.

Yeah, Wii Sports is sooo much better than I thought it would be! I think Tennis is my favorite...Boxing and Bowling are fun too. Golf and Baseball are cool too but not quite as fun imo.

Very immersive!

Zelda is good so far too I guess, only about 5 minutes into it though.

Red Steel...hmm. I started with the multiplayer. It kinda sucks though just doing it with 2 people, and I don't see it being much better with 4. It would be much better if it were online (which I read they will add a patch later on so that you can play online). Single player is much better, but it is not easy!! Getting used to the controls is kinda tough...I see why IGN was initially concerned, but you do (kinda) get the hang of it. It definitely has potential, but I'll reserve judgment on it just yet.

Those features arent available yet. I think the Forecast channel in coming out in December and the news channel is a long way away. I think the dates are on the offical wii webpage though.

Zelda: Pretty good so far, but I'm not far into the game. Haven't even left town yet.
Trauma Center: Fun game, easy to learn, hard as shit to master
Red Steel: Haven't really played more than 20 minutes, still trying to learn the controls
Madden: Fucking awesome...except for kicking
Rayman Raving Rabbids: Pretty funny so far
Wii Sports: Definitly the favorite so far..Love bowling

"Chris McVeigh, one of our Canadian reader-moles, sent a detailed report about Wii sales in Bathurst, New Brunswick. McVeigh's small town of 15,000 is overflowing with Wii goodness; the local Wal-Mart stocked 96 Wii systems and is still long on remotes and nunchuks.

While the store sold its Wii consoles by noon
-- McVeigh got one without any camp-out -- his story reminds us to search for remotes and nunchuks in rural areas; those stores may still have stock. Road trip to Bathurst, anyone?"

OMG i logged 6hrs and 21 min on zelda today...i haven't played a game that long in years. Got through the first dungen and am in Hyrule field on my way to the next area. So far I can't really complain about the controlls much, and have found slicing and dicing with the sword to be rather fun and different. Aiming with things like the bomerang and slingshot have been annoying at times, and take some getting used to, but it goes with the teritory i suppose. Overall its been great and the game looks fantastic. I just can't wait until my component cables get here in a week or so. You'd think they have a little better supply for a cable, but whatever. Been up since 5:30 and I really should go to bed so I can go to work tomorrow, but that wii sports disc on my coffee table is mighty tempting.

Quote :

and yet @ $50 a game x 5 games, plus the system, thats still ~100 bucks less than a ps3 at $600.

Got mine at 11 this morning played Zelda for 4 hours or so before I went to work. I thought it was great beat the first Temple (but missed a chest and now I can't get back to it >.< think it has a heart piece in it too). When I got off work played Wii sports a bunch with my roomate, we fired up Ultimate Alliance briefly too but didn't play it enough to get a feel for it....

overall it is the most fun I've had playing any console game in a long time

And the Gamestop in Crabtree had Zelda strategy guides for whoever asked

god, it was fucking hard as hell for me to find an extra nunchuk and a controller today, but i finally found the last nunchuk and a controller at the fuquay walmart. also picked up a classic controller

spent the last few hours at a friends house where there were 7 of us playing wii sports(taking turns of 4 of course) bowling is a blast golf is pretty good too. but boxing is just fucking awesome. we all actually started getting tired after boxing with the wiimotes for a while. i also learned the secret to wii sports boxing is to beat the hell out of your opponents junk. round houses with the nunchuk to the crotch followed by a right jab or roundhouse to the junk will pretty much beat the crap out of your opponent. tennis we have yet to master.

was great creating mii's too. mine looks like some crackhead. all in all, this is the most fun i think i've ever had with a system and wii sports is definitely one of the best games ever to come with a system.

also,

Quote :
"As noted in the INQUIRER this morning, Wii demand outstripped supply, ensuring Nintendo had a sell-out product on its launch day.

Considering the huge numbers Nintendo have suggested that were shipped to the US - around five to ten times the paltry 400,000 allocation of the PS3 from Sony - the sell-out must come as a huge boon to Nintendo executives. So far they seem to be on a winner, albeit it's early days."

so it's not really a pandemonium-type sellout like for the x360 + ps3.
