it is a sonic alarm system...

however, what activates the sonic alarm is the barrier. the barrier that exists between the post is an electromagnetic field. when that field is interrupted, it causes the reaction, aka the sonic alarm...

i thought this weeks episode would shut up some of the complainers. it showed both the others group, and the beach group, we got a good long look at the smoke monster in action, didnt raise any major new questions (other than where did the others go)

well I hate to sound cliche, but next weeks episode should be a good one with a lot of answers about Juliette (its a juliette flashback) and how she got to the island

only 7 more episodes left this season with Juliette, Desmond, Jin, Jack, Charlie, Ben and Dharma flashbacks

I'm 99% sure the smoke monster is a collection of electromagnetic particles...

by adjusting the electromagnetic field and polarity of the particles, an image, or hologram if you will, can be presented.

There is still someone on the island who is controlling this device. If not, then the device has somehow obtained a "mind of its own" through some type of catastrophe. Perhaps this is the failure talked about in the Dharma videos.
Whether or not the device was a security feature or part of the tests of the Dharma initative, we are still in the dark.

juliette - how she got to the island (submarine?) and why she is such a cold bitch
desmond - how he got discharged from the army and why he can see the future

charlie - could be the episode that he dies in
jack - not sure what this is about, but I heard that Walt might reappear in this one
dharma - how the dharma initiative started and maybe how Ben was conceived
Ben - the 2-hour finale so I'm sure there will be crazy shit going on

this is the type of episode that when people complain, other people have a tiny right to be all blah blah blah you always complain blah blah blah

whereas the diamond ep was bad, and worse, pointless

Not too shabby, Juliette really put Sayid and Sawyer in their place with her comments. I would love to see her double cross Bed but yeah I have to agree with ya'll she's going to double corss jack. I thought it was mighty conveinent for Claire to get sick right when she arrived.

And that whole, Ethan did it on his own BS was clearly made up. Nothing by the others EVER happens without Ben's prior permission or his thinking of it first and turning it to his advantage.

Solid episode until the end. Seems like there were a lot of directions they could have went after the four returned to the main camp, and they picked the most obvious one. I hope its to just set up the audience and either Juliette turns on The Others OR Jack turns on the Losties.

Not that I have the best memory, but this bothered me. Didn't Sawyer shoot the guy with no one around? How did she know he did it. Kate being chased for a crime I understand. Military record on Sayid I understand.

I knew Juliette was still bad because Ben is still her best bet to get off the island. She even admitted to Jack that she dragged Kate into the jungle and handcuffed herself to Kate. She should be isolated and watched with a close eye.

these last 2 episodes have been better than the whole new half season combined. however juliette's "betrayal" to Jack was predictable. so was the whole Hugo - Swayer "vote". the camp's reaction to Jules, dur.

My thing is this, they better wrap up a lot of questions still about the island, Drhama (if thats its real name), and get to the freaking point of the "Others" before the end of Season 3. They keep bringing in new characters and trying to make them vital, by the ways of flashbacks, and giving us too much of the same old characters. Seriously, another Kate?

^ Yeah but remember they did a similar thing when Desmond returned in his boat, and everyone was thinking omg, contact with the outside world, they'll be able to escape, etc. Maybe it is someone like Penny showing up, but it could just be Ben coming over to get Juliette.

The Others have boats, submarines, horses, probably another Dharma VW van somewhere, and you think they don't have a helicopter stashed away somewhere?

Edit: It definitely looked exciting in the previews, but they have been very misleading in the previews of late... whoever is in charge of those things need to be shot.

what? juliette is like kate in her cavalier spirit, but that's about it
