the headline on NHL.com is semi-ironic

"Thrashers slip past 'Canes in OT"

It was good for sure, but commodore and seidenberg should have put him on his ass before he could think about making it

It was a pretty goal, but basically like running a drill around 4 pylons since that's about how useful the Canes players were on that PK, and have been on most PKs lately.

oh joy... Walker and Ladd are doubtful for tomorrow's game.

Ladd had the orbital bone surgery today, and Walker finished last night's game despite straning his knee in the 2nd.

i honestly doubt we see leighton if it is true. someone will snatch him up on re-entry, and wouldnt we have to pay half his salary? no way rutherford takes that chance

the interesting part of the Grahame on waivers rumor is that CuJo comes to Raleigh

im pretty sure if you guys werent in the southeast, you would be in last or next to last in any other conference. Every once in a while I watch yall play great, but that is usually followed by 2 games of absolute shit

Okay, so maybe no CuJo (yet at least), but maybe even better. Michael Leighton has officially received the call that he has deserved for months.

Grahame on waivers, Leighton gets call

The long-awaited goaltending shake-up is here. The Canes have placed John Grahame on waivers and will recall Michael Leighton from Albany (AHL) later today.

Leighton has been, arguably, the best goalie in the AHL this season, while Grahame has allowed 33 goals in his past seven starts.

"Leighton has played pretty well and deserves the opportunity," Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford said. "We have to, in the second half, get to a level of more consistency in goal so he's going to get his chance."

Leighton's 2.14 goals-against average is fourth in the league, his .928 save percentage is second and he leads the AHL with five shutouts.

NHL teams have until noon tomorrow to put in a claim for Grahame. They would have to pick up the remainder of his $1.4 million salary this season.

Grahame doesn't have enough appearances to qualify for the NHL's goals-against rankings, but his 3.83 GAA would be the worst in the league by a wide margin. (Johan Hedberg's 3.19 is currently last among the 41 qualifying goalies.)

Haha the old 25% rule. Maybe Tortorella was onto something.

aha looks like Atlanta gets the shitty end of the deal.

also looks like Friday's game will be seen internationally too.

"The Hurricanes arrived in Atlanta at about 4:15 p.m. Thursday. Jeff Hamilton didn’t stay long. As soon as the bus got to the hotel, Hamilton went back to the airport for a 5:20 p.m. flight back to Raleigh, where his wife Jane gave birth to a boy, Michael Donahoe, a 7:20 a.m. today.

Hamilton returned to Atlanta this afternoon and was in the lineup against the Thrashers — tired, but exhilarated.

“I got a half-hour of sleep on a hospital futon, but it was worth every minute of it,” Hamilton said."

this game is more frustrating since the COD4 servers are down and I can't take out aggression by shooting people.
