I love how everyone in this thread has decided the guy is innocent when no one really has a clue. The fact is, somebody murdered that woman, and if half of the effort spent reporting on the trial or speculating on his innocence was focused on that we might actually know who that person was. 3/31/2011 11:08:55 AM |

I don't know if he's innocent or guilty but he should not be convicted based on the collected "evidence" so far presented. 3/31/2011 11:11:00 AM |

you are an idiot
i don't think many people are saying they think he's innocent
but many people are saying he won't be convicted because the police and the prosecution are completely incompetent 3/31/2011 11:19:41 AM |

Yeah I have picked up on that. I'm kind of surprised how much of this testimony is admissible seeing as it's a bunch of she-said with zero way to verify it. "She said it was the worst day of her life." Pretty sure every woman in the history of mankind has said that to a friend at least once. Doesn't mean anything 3/31/2011 11:19:42 AM |

My statement may have come across like I feel he is guilty, which isn't the case. You are dead on about the evidence, I have yet to see any real evidence at all. The sad truth is his "trial" started when his wife was reported missing and reporters showed up. Textbook guilty until proven innocent case.3/31/2011 11:19:45 AM |

I haven't read the thread enough to see what the overall opinion here is, but all the evidence I hear about on the news is really weak. He was watching the golf channel. The golf channel. GOLF! I looked into his eyes and knew he was guilty, he didn't moan the right way when we told him, his dog was wearing a white sweater, etc.
Of course I haven't been at the trial so I haven't heard all the evidence. I'm just saying that they're trying hard to convict the guy in the court of public opinion and they are failing.

I believe he's innocent, and being railroaded. The prosecution has yet to offer any real evidence.
So far we've had....
1: Hearsay evidence (allowed through some legal loophole) from The Stepford Wives/Cary Gossiping Housewives' Club. 2: Someone from AT&T explaining cell phone bills (but not adding to any evidence in any significant way). 3: A CPD detective on the stand for a week who magically knew all the answers to the prosecution's questions but "couldn't recall" anything for the defense, and didn't answer any of the defense's cross-examination with anything but non-answers and weasel words. 4: Now we're back to the Cary Gossiping Housewives. 5: There were obviously more people on the stand than the above list but didn't add anything to the prosecution's case.3/31/2011 11:34:35 AM |

In this country, you are innocent until proven guilty. If he is not proven guilty, which most everyone seems to think, then he will be not guilty. Not guilty = innocent. 3/31/2011 11:35:09 AM |

I don't necessarily believe he is innocent or guilty.
He may have done it, but the prosecution has not shown any evidence that directly implicates him. It's just a bunch of speculative crap that you would not expect to see from professionals.
If i was on the jury, I couldn't convict him. 3/31/2011 11:36:35 AM |

You should read the latest thread on Websleuths. They are eating this sob-story up.
Remember that just because these witnesses are testifying to what Nancy told them, that doesn't mean that what Nancy told them was the truth.

I haven't been paying close attention to the proceedings, but it seems like the defense atty would have blasted the detective for this...Or at the very least made it a focal point. The crux of their defense is that the CPD conducted a biased investigation and his whole testimony on the stand seems to back up that point.3/31/2011 11:40:55 AM |

So basically the woman on the stand right now is testifying that Nancy told her every day they saw each other that she hated Brad.
Valuable testimony right here.
She was wearing 3 items of jewelry with diamonds in them - but complained about how Brad didn't give her her "allowance."

Not that any of this matters, but this is exactly how I feel. There is a very strong likelihood that he murdered his wife but no one can prove it, and I think that at this point the justice system has failed us, and most importantly failed Nancy Cooper.3/31/2011 11:41:51 AM |

^^^^ that's exactly why I don't understand why they are allowed to go through this long, labored story. It really has nothing to do with anything. Why the hell are they talking about Hannah Montana right now?

how as the justice system failed? do you believe they didn't try hard enough to find evidence? do you believe that they should have dropped the whole thing because they didn't have enough evidence?
i mean, they're working with what they have (which is very little) and are prosecuting because not prosecuting would have caused an uproar...if a jury of his peers convict him, well, that's on them...personally, i'm in the "it's better to let 10 guilty men go free than to convict 1 innocent man" camp and by that measure, he'd walk unless the prosecution has something up their sleeves3/31/2011 11:46:35 AM |

As soon as you do, go buy some $200 jeans, get a pedicure for your 4-year old, and then bitch to all your friends that your wife is horrible and doesn't give you any money.

being a dickhead does not make you a murderer.
I would also theorize that since he hadn't been getting any for about 2 years, that could be a cause of his dickheadedness. (yes, I made that word up just for TWW). 3/31/2011 1:21:10 PM |

That sort of thing really gets me, too. I bet what she failed to tell her friends about was the tens of thousands of debt they were in and and her failure to live within an allowance he provided. From what I have read, Nancy would spend the grocery/other needs money on frivolous luxuries and then borrow money from her friends, saying that Brad wouldn't let her have money to feed the kids.
