Of course it's a no call. He was motionless and it was a good screen. It certainly wasn't a foul on Texas, if that is what you're implying.

I don't think Barnes had established position and the refs were right for not bailing UNC out on some bullshit like that anyway.

lol at UNC for blowing that game. I'm sure UNC fans will cling to the "close loss to a top-25 team on a neutral site" bullshit to reassure them that they are still a good team. The only problem is that is was a loss to a decent team in what was essentially a home game. Fuck UNC.

Sidney was wailing on that kid. Wonder what kind of punishment they'll get. The Sidney kid was just coming off a one game suspension for "conduct detrimental to the team". Hmm...wonder what that could have been about....

SDSU's coach is the former Michigan coach, Steve Fisher, that won them their only national title in 1989, and went to the Final Four in 1992, and 1993.

Duke It will be difficult to tell how good they are until the trip to Tallahassee. Even then, the ACC is dreadful at the bottom.
N.C. State Tracy Smith's health is paramount to their success, but they are the default "best of the rest". They could have beaten Syracuse, but no Smith and poor decision making killed them again.
North Carolina Tyler Zeller is a stud and they are legitimately trying to play defense. Just not buying as a top 25 team yet. Kentucky win showed toughness, Rutgers win showed improvement.
Boston College Well coached and sound defensively, BC could be the surprise team of this league. Win over Maryland a good first step.
Maryland They need to show they can win on the road and then we shall see how their backcourt handles the Duke pressure on the road. Jordan Williams is the best big man in the league. Hands down.
Virginia Some Tony B Magic has them competitive despite lightly regarded, but deep, recruiting class. If they hit jumpers, you are in trouble.
Virginia Tech Major injuries and point guard struggles have derailed the dream season.
Clemson Mostly losses to the decent and above-average teams they have played, but some nice wins too. A work in progress.
Miami Soft schedule, but a fairly talented team who will start losing in league as they have little-to-no home court advantage.
Georgia Tech Iman Shumpert can win a game on his own, but the turnovers and lack of interior help hurts.
Wake Forest Defections, youth and a talent drain to the NBA have hampered Buzz in his first year, it is going to get worse, not better."

"Top-to-bottom conference rankings

With conference play getting into full swing, what better time to rank each of the big six conferences from top to bottom?

This is my perception of who is better in each conference as we get into 2011. This list has nothing to do with records, as records are deceiving. Road games and back loaded schedules can deceive even Joe Lunardi, so don't let your view get skewed. It is my intent to update the list every week with less detail on this blog. For now though, let the debates begin.

If Miami could learn to finish around the rim they might stay in this.

It was supposedly a year ago tonight that Florida hit the half-court buzzer beater on us. I just saw the replay on ESPNU.

Penn dominated Kentucky in the first half tonight. Then the Wildcats stomped them.

St. John's beat Georgetown -- another RPI hit for us.

And this is fucking nuts. St. John's played the first of EIGHT straight games against ranked opponents. EIGHT. For comparison sake, Duke plays ZERO the rest of the regular season.

Lunardi's bracketology was updated Monday. Has 5 ACC teams in (1 on the first 4 out and 1 on the next 4 out)

maybe it wont be PAC-10 bad like those in the credibility thread claim.

Make up calls are the worst things possible. I thin they give UNC fouls when it won't really hurt them that much to be called for a foul. Then they can say "look we are calling it even" when in reality they don't call the fouls that would actually matter (in the act of shooting etc).

^^ The top level of refs in college are independent. They aren't "ACC refs" or "Big East refs." For instance, John Cahill and Bryan Kersey ref games in both conferences and I want to say Teddy Valentine does as well among others...

^^^ conspiracy any? I think that teams who have consistently been good for a long time get more calls (UNC, Duke, UConn, Kentucky, UCLA, Kansas, etc)
