Our secondary actually isn't that weak and is vastly improved. The problem is we have no depth there, which is why you saw the second string give up two garbage scores.

Even with the first string, I saw a lot of open WRs...Cincy's QB just had zero time, and when he did, didn't make the best passes.

I'm not saying they are bad, but they are our weakness.

^our "depth" is just really freaking young. Amerson, Johnson and Green will be really good in time.....but 3 freshmen playing in their 3rd game in garbage time, when we're not really blitzing or getting after it anymore.....no wonder they got lit up

I realize that, that's what I meant by no depth. They aren't developed, which is why they got playing time late, to develop it.

I thought I'd repost this for page 28, for those who may not have seen the Military Appreciation Day stuff. It's a compilation of most of the exhibitions before and during the game.

Saying something like this makes me think you don't understand the basic principles of blitzing

"Pack Off to 3-0 Start
NC State is off to a 3-0 start for the first time since the 2002 campaign, when the Wolfpack started out with a 9-0 mark.

Wilson Throws
For the sixth time in his career, Russell Wilson went over 300 yards passing, as he finished with 333 yards today. Today also marked the ninth time he threw three or more touchdowns in a game.

Moose for Six
Freshman tailback Mustafa Greene has now rushed for a touchdown in each of this first three career games. He’s the first freshman to rush for a score in each of this first three games since Joe McIntosh did it in 1981.

Ninety-Yard Drives
In the first quarter, NC State had two 93-yard scoring drives on back-to-back possessions. It marked the first time since Nov. 11, 2003 that the Wolfpack had two 90-yard drives in the same game, much less in back-to-back drives. That 2003 contest was against Florida State and the Pack lost 50-44 in double overtime.

Mattes Back in Action
Sophomore R.J. Mattes saw his first action since October 31, 2009, in the first quarter when he came in at right tackle. Mattes is returning from an ACL injury.

Williams Receiving Yards
Senior wide receiver Jarvis Williams tallied 111 receiving yards on four catches, all in the first half. That mark is the second-highest of his career, and he now has three 100+ yard games for his career.

Underwood First Career Touchdown Reception
Curtis Underwood, Jr., scored on a 12-yard pass late in the second quarter, marking his first career touchdown reception.

Czajkowski Streak Ends
Josh Czajkowski missed the extra point on the third touchdown of the game, marking his first missed in 84 tries. His streak of 83 straight PATs is a school record. "

He didn't have time when we were blitzing and when we were not blitzing. Their o-line sucked AND they couldn't pick up our blitzes. But even when he had time, a lot of his throws were WAY off.

That being said...I was very impressed with our blitzing. Looks like the Tenuta addition has done wonders...because we definitely weren't seeing this shit the past couple years with just Archer.

We were blitzing most of the night. This is what separated Philip from the rest of the quarterbacks in the conference. Philip could pick apart a blitz--it did not phase him. When you blitz, you will leave some people hanging depending on the scheme, which is why you can do it vs some QB's and why you can't others. There is always the possibility of giving up a big passing play because of it. That's just when you hope your secondary is prepared and our defense is on its way to getting that. For the past three games, our blitzing has been effective because we've been putting the QB's in the ground, but they do still have some kinks to work out. You can't ask for much more than improvement every week and we're getting that from the defense.

For as much shit as the defense took last year, they should be getting equal praise because it has been a complete 180.

So glad Tenuta joined the staff. LB core is beast so far this year.

Also I wanted to comment on how big of a catch Jarvis Williams sick grab in the 2Q was. That was a 3rd and long, 1st drive after Cincy got back in the game to make it 14-7, and it put us in position to score again. It was simply an awesome play at a clutch time. Definitely the biggest play of the game IMO. It certainly made up for the tipped pass/catch/fumble/turnover from earlier in the game.

I think that if we want to keep Tenuta around, we'll need to can archer.... Tenuta is too good for a position coach... he's gonna bounce to be a DC elsewhere if we don't promote him

I was about to get seriously pissed off at the faggots on PP bitching about pass outs. I will for one say that I have never left a game at halftime to go back to the car (probably cause I'm too lazy to walk) but I'd be fucking furious if they quit letting people leave. IMO we still suck too much to enforce that rule, cause people are going to leave anyway and I'd rather give them the option of coming back.

And our concessions kinda suck except the frozen lemonade, soda, and pretzels.

^^^why not improve concessions and get rid of the pass-outs? possibly further reduce pre-game tailgating restrictions, etc.

and i don't think selling beer at concessions is an option, but that would of course soften the blow of nixing the pass-outs as well.

they need to rent out vendor slots essentially turning the concourse into a fair food court. this would make games a lot better, food a lot better and cheaper for the fans and cf could predetermine how much money they want to make from it. Thats much better than selling shitty food for 5 dollars a piece. nobody wants to pay 5 dollars for 2 slices of dominoes pizza.

If you have a ticket you should be able to come and go as you please. I was a bit pissed I couldn't leave the stadium until half time when it was more than 40 min before kick off. We got there earlier than expected and beat our tailgate group so we went inside to shop for gear until they got there just to find out we wouldn't be able to reenter.

^^Isnt that just a student tic thing? The problem with student tickets is that there is no good way to manage letting ppl out until the standby students get their tics. They cant just let u come and go, theyd need to unscan the tic or something.

We are one of the few schools who offer pass-outs at halftime. No re-entry is the more common practice at any sporting event. College or Pro

the majority of sporting events don't have the tailgating atmosphere we have combined with lack of alcohol sales.

They should just sell beer in the arena, students are gonna get trashed underage outside the stadium if not in it

^liability issue. If students get trashed outside, its not the university's problem. If they get trashed INSIDE.........then it is NCSU's problem

you gotta remember most people hate football so much they have to be drunk to keep watching. Heaven forbid being sober for the 2nd half.

^^I'm not really sure it's liability about getting trashed- I think it is more of selling alcohol to minors that they are worried about. The state owns all the land that we tailgate on, so it would still blow back onto them

I have never been to a college game where alcohol was served. To me, it all deals with passouts. State gives them out for halftime and fans take advantage of it. It boils down to whether you go to football games to tailgate or to watch the football game.

I have never been a fan of the halftime passouts thing. All it does is create less people in their seats, less crowd noise, less concession revenue for the school, and makes it look like we cannot sell out our stadium.

When it comes to tailgating, get drunk before the game, go to game, sober up a little and actually understand what is happening in the game, and if State wins, get drunk again. No need to stay drunk the entire fucking time.

I know you didn't make this complaint, but there is really no evidence that selling beer at college games leads to any more trouble. I've been to many a game where beer is sold and the most recent was a UConn game a few years back. Students, by and large, binge the same before the game because they can't afford to drop $10 a beer.

It's more for the alumni than anything else...

** And I use a passout every single game and go to someone's tailgate near the gate... never miss time back in the game unless it's a complete blow out. I like partying and drinking but I like watching State football more...
