Thanks, I guess its 11 on weekends, and 10:30 on weeknights. I think I remember the decemberists going a bit over, but they also had the entire audience in the front pick up their chairs in protest so I guess they just:

Damn it, I'm on the road for work and went to the nearest Best Buy to pick up the new Opeth album. Not in stock. you bastards. They usually have them in stock.

For those that still buy music, where do you buy from? I live 30 minutes north of Raleigh and work in North Raleigh. I know I can just order it but it is usually cheaper to pick it up.

Korn is releasing a nu-metal/dubstep album. These are two things I hate a lot.

A record store.

Your only option in Raleigh is Schoolkids. In Durham, there's Bull City Records, and in CH/Carrboro there's CD Alley and All Day Records.

No matter what, I'd call and ask first. These stores might not stock a ton of copies of something like Opeth, but they'll be happy to order it. Unlike Best Buy, they'll also know what you're talking about and know if they have it.

We (Schoolkids) actually have a pretty badass metal selection. Probably have Grayson's years here to thank for that. And we have several copies of both the standard and deluxe CD version and the LP version of the new Opeth. You should stop by, scotieb.

iirc, it's 10:30, Sunday thru Thursday and 11 pm on Friday/Saturday, based on the RCC

^^ You talking about the one on Hillsborough St.? I haven't been to the new location but I have been to the old one.

I already got the new Opeth though. When I got back to Raleigh I checked my normal Best Buy here near Triangle Town Center and they had like 8 copies left. I guess they just didn't stock the ones in that area (Monroe)

Give Us The Wind and Close To None are my favorites off the new Future Islands right now. Album is pretty strong when you listen all the way through although I could do without Tybee Island

^^ yeh, i like the new future islands too, and i'm not usually too wowed by them. i like this one because it's more atmospheric (due in part to songs like 'tybee island'). my favorite track is probably 'before the bridge', but it's definitely a "listen to the whole thing" kinda album

"balance" is still the standout for me, but probably just because i've listened to it so much already. "grease" and "where i found you" are really cool too.

The synth explosions at the beginning of "Grease" are fucking incredible.

Dum Dum Girls is really good, but since they cleaned up the production, Dee Dee's voice is 100% Chrissie Hynde.

The new Field album is really good. He's been one of my favorite artist over the past five or six years. Each of his albums have an exemplary track (A Paw In My Face, The More That I Do, and Looping State Of Mind) showcasing its use of repetition, loops, voices, samples, and synths. His recent effort sounds more cohesive and flows better during a listen than the other two. I really like all the voices used at the end of Arpeggiated Love.

Can you elaborate on what those expectations might be? Not sure what I was expecting with this, but I've listened to it like 5 times through now, and I'd give it a 7.8.

Sticking to my guns on the 7.8

I, honestly, think it shoulda been faster I guess.

Track 4 isn't mentioned I don't think. I like it.

They still get overlooked outside of a certain crowd it seems like. This album is really good though. A slightly different style but comparable quality to Crack the Skye (which was outstanding).
