I'm not saying this team is built for it...but teams like the Giants and Steelers have backed into the playoffs with poor records, and gone on to win the Super Bowl. I'm not going to be SURPRISED if we keep losing games, but as long as the rest of the division sucks, we have a shot at the playoffs.
Plus as long as we can keep our heads above water, we'll get Deangelo and Tolbert back which will instantly give us a more reliable running game. And who knows, even Greg Hardy might be able to suit up late in the season. 10/26/2014 5:21:10 PM |

if cam keeps playing down, it's going to be real interesting to see what kind of money he gets in the off season
has he ever thrown for 400 yds under shula? I realize he was a lot more error prone his rookie yr but I kind of liked that cam better, seemed more productive 10/26/2014 8:10:42 PM |

he's going to make a ton of money, because he deserves a ton of money
up until last week, he'd been playing at his highest level, and it was beautiful to watch. a few subpar games aren't gonna mean a thing in the world. all his agent will have to do is show the game tape from the Bengals game. 10/26/2014 8:33:07 PM |

Wonder if the brilliant play (by the o-line, Cam and KB) for 51 yards while double covered by the best CB/S tandem in the league made Cam think he had all the time in the world later in the game when he held the ball too long on the last drive
At least the defense looked good, even though all you really have to do against Seattle is contain Lynch 10/26/2014 9:06:24 PM |

So after watching New Orleans last night, its pretty obvious our season is done, so now we can start trying to figure out how to fix some of these problems.
No need to worry about Hardy anymore just cut the guy loose and let him become someone elses problem.
Cam will get paid this offseason even if he may not be the answer long term. He is gonna be significantly better than anyone we may be able to draft and he is the face of the franchise currently so we are gonna pay him just hopefully they structure the deal smartly in case he ends up injured again.
KB has shown a lot of progress and our defense has mostly done ok. Need to find another weapon at receiver and get some running backs who can stay on the field for more than a game at a time. We have a window here of maybe 3-5 years where we will have pieces in place to build a consistent winner around and we need to take advantage of it. 10/27/2014 8:31:10 AM |

I'm not ready to give up on the season yet but we're hanging by a thread
Gonna have to sweep ATL, beat TB again, split with NO (which, after last night, looks unlikely), and beat the Browns and Vikes to get to 9 wins. and even 9-6-1 might not be good enough if the saints recover from their tailspin. the next three games will be critical. if we aren't at least 5-5-1 going into the bye, that's pretty much it. the wild cards are going to come from the East (unless the cowgirls collapse) and either the West or North (unless Detroit collapses) 10/27/2014 8:36:46 AM |

Let's not go giving the division to New Orleans until they actually win a game on the road.
If we win Thursday night, that would go a long way to winning the South. Atlanta and Tampa are pure garbage, and NO hasn't had their games against Baltimore, Cincy, or Pittsburgh yet and we have. 10/27/2014 8:55:53 AM |

Yeah NO looked good last night. But they're still the same team that looked so shitty earlier in the year.
Jonathan Stewart looked pretty good yesterday...that's really one of the few positives offensively. 10/27/2014 9:04:12 AM |

Cam had a bad game yesterday, but he looked healthier than he's been since around this time last season. I really don't understand the over reliance on the read option yesterday. This was the 2012 offense all over again, with the exact same results against the exact same team. If they can figure that out going forward, the offense will be ok. Stewart is running really well and holy fuck at KB. The offensive line is total trash but even a D+ performance like yesterday was enough to win that game had Cam played better.
Norman gave the defense a huge lift, as did Short starting and Ealy finally flashing. The outlook is bleak record and schedule wise, but there were a lot of positives to take away from the field yesterday. I think we'll have a relatively competent secondary when Bene gets back, even with below average safeties. Nice to see TD flying around like that, dude has not lost a single step. 10/27/2014 9:05:05 AM |

Speaking of safeties, the trade deadline is today. Bucs S Mark Barron is supposedly on the table.
Even if he is trending toward bust, he would be a big upgrade over Harper. He has too much talent and toughness not to be. Maybe we offer a 3rd or 4th.
Remember this is the guy the Panthers were rumored to really want in the 2012 draft. Bucs took him and forced us to take Luke. Praise Jesus. 10/28/2014 10:34:28 AM |

Sounds like DeAngelo will be ready to go Thursday

Our contracts with DeAngelo and Stewart are killing us and they produce next to no results. On top of that, we have a bunch of old vets at WR. We actually have the oldest group of WRs in the league. So essentially, we have a bunch of old, injury-prone players at our speed positions but we're fucked salary cap-wise for the next couple of years at least. 10/28/2014 11:11:49 AM |

Seems like a 4th is fair. I think he's only seen as a bust because of where he was taken in the draft ... #8 IIRC. He's great against the run but kind of sucks against the pass. That's better than Harper, who sucks at everything.
Doesn't really matter though. Gettlemen ain't making that move. 10/28/2014 2:37:10 PM |

there's too much value in a rookie 3rd or 4th rounders contract, especially for a team with our cap situation. we aren't even close to being in a position where we'd be able to deal picks like that.
we will more than likely use those early picks on the OL, which is much more of a need than a safety

I think safety is only slightly behind OT when it comes to our needs. I would have taking a chance on Barron for a 4th and a 6th, especially since he's making less than $1 million next season apparently. Panthers will almost assuredly get some conditional mid-round picks this draft too.
Oh well though. Maybe Harper earns his check this week.10/29/2014 2:00:16 PM |

per Bill Barnwell, he's owed $4.6 million guaranteed next season

It's pretty difficult to get a quality offensive lineman in the draft that doesn't take years to develop if you don't have a top 5 pick. The reason we didn't draft a guy instead of KB or in the 2nd round to replace Gross is because all the offensive linemen we couldve had have been playing like turnstiles this season. 10/29/2014 2:12:42 PM |

Our tackles are shitty and there is nothing we can do about it. The guard situation is better and should be ok when everyone gets healthy. We need to shore up the pressure up the middle. Cam can deal with outside rushers as long as he has room to step up and move around the pocket. 10/29/2014 2:55:27 PM |

If you have Verizon I think you can stream on the NFL mobile app
Otherwise, if you have a TV in your room and can get CBS, you can watch
Otherwise, someone will probably post a stream
Also...if Roman Harper does nothing this game...then why'd we bring him in? Hopefully he can at least add some gameplanning

Oh, I thought they took it off CBS. I looked at TV Guide also and it didn't list the game on CBS. I do have Verizon and I have the NFL Mobile App but don't wanna watch on my phone (and I think I have to link it with my account and not sure if that costs or not). I think they said if you have the More Everything plan you get it free. IDK.
I'm posted up watching it at the clubhouse on a nice HD TV. (Mine isn't on HD as I don't have satellite.) 10/30/2014 8:33:42 PM |
