"6. NORTH CAROLINA STATE
2012 commits (National rank)
PG Rodney Purvis (6)
PG Tyler Lewis (55)

The Pack scored a major commitment when Purvis, a five-star, decided to stay home. He's a physical, attacking point guard who has the size to slide over and play the two. Lewis is as crafty as they come off the dribble and a fan favorite for his flashy passing."

if we're #6, that's cool with me

but Michigan State with #80, #82, and #84 ranked #13? i feel like you should need at least one guy ranked a little higher to get top 15

as other highly ranked recruits commit, most likely to some common programs, you'll see MSU's ranking come down.

Assuming they all stay.

Also this from Purvis:
Quote :
"You are a N.C. State commit. They are expecting you to turn things around. They are great fans and won't ever talk down about you, but they want to be excited about something. The players should want to excite them, and I'm definitely that kind of guy"

well let's be fair, our fans will talk down about players. just comes with the territory. also, we're not the only school like that.

though we are more likely to talk down about someone like Painter or Williams before someone like Purvis.

Every school has fanbases that will talk about players to some degree. For me, if the player is not performing (having a bad scoring night or in a slump) but still hustling and making the team better, I'm OK with that. I think most others are as well.

Not sure where to put this because it is not threadworthy, but they had a little piece on Cameron Bennerman in today's News & Record.

Quote :
"GREENSBORO — Cameron Bennerman is a globe-trotting professional basketball player and owner of a 3-year-old fashion business.

But that’s not all.

The former Grimsley High School basketball star owns the recently opened The Pines (241 E. Market St.) in downtown.

The shop sells things such as beverages and chips and his line of hats and T-shirts called LiKuid Nation, with styles influenced by hip-hop music, sports and art.

“Along with what I feel can best represent my brand, I also want to be able to make available other kind of products, as well,” the 27-year-old Greensboro native said. “Magazines. Food. Snacks. Accessories. Toys. A wide range.”

He also plans to have a fitting room and televisions displayed throughout the shop.

The Pines, which pays homage to North Carolina’s official state tree, also can be rented for events including wine tastings and after-hours parties.

The interior is filled with reminders of the shop’s namesake, including pine panel walls and a few pine logs from Bennerman’s property in Kernersville.

Friends and family spent the summer helping Bennerman remodel the 60-plus-year-old building, which is across the street from the News & Record parking lot.

His grandfather laid the concrete.

His father, Rik Bennerman, owner of the Masters Grill at Gillespie Golf Course in Greensboro, also pitched in.

Rik Bennerman helped with some interior decorating, including hanging his son’s framed No. 13 basketball jersey from N.C. State, where he played guard.

“Everything done by immediate friends and family is the beauty of it,” he said."

good to see Tyler cuttn up a bit. I don't like seeing that soft shit in the lane. The physical transition to the ACC from HS is drastic and it is good to see that these guys seem to be getting ahead of the curve?

if we could just get him or amile jefferson, that'd already be an astounding class, and we'd still have room for at least one more. but everything i've read (speculation) leads me to believe that johnson is going to florida.

^^Don't know much about him either, except that he's a wiry PF.

But what I do know is that UNC offered and hosted him on a visit, and that many of their fans want him. That makes this news awesome.

Quote :
"Two schools on top for Brice Johnson

By Jeff Borzello

It’s been an interesting few months for Brice Johnson and his recruitment.

He missed a chance to boost his stock at the NBPA Top 100 camp in June when he suffered a concussion early in the event and had to sit out the rest of the event. But he certainly bounced back at the Peach Jam in July, dominating every opponent in front of college coaches from across the country. Averaging 4.2 blocks per game and shooting nearly 82 percent from the field spurred one high-major head coach to call him a future lottery pick.

Johnson went from a player who might have been leaning towards staying in-state and going to Clemson or South Carolina to one with offers from North Carolina, Ohio State, Connecticut and Florida.

So far, the 6-foot-9 power forward from Edisto (S.C.) has taken official visits to North Carolina State, North Carolina and Florida, with one to Clemson still on the way.

A pair of schools is standing out: North Carolina State and Florida.

“They are the top two,” Johnson said.

We will soon find out where the No. 29 prospect in the country will end up, as Johnson plans to make a decision soon.

“Sometime this month,” he said.
