rewind to 2006 when our coaching search was the laughing stock of NCAA basketball. Despite the fact that we had been to NCAAT consistently for years.

Now in 2011, when we havent been to NCAAT since 2006 - our "job" is supposed to be one of the most attractive out there?

in 2006 we had just forced out a coach who had made the tournament the past 5 years.

in 2011 we have a lot of talent to work with, a new AD, and a program that at this point shows progress just by making the tournament.

you guys can't see how there's a massive difference in attractiveness in our HC search this year as opposed to 2006?

Like it or not, Herb was a very well respected basketball guy in college coaching circles. It's not really a surprise that it was probably not as attractive to a lot of big-time coaches at that time as it is now given our relative level of "success" and the way the fans reacted.

Yes.

He was caught off guard by Sendek leaving, and it appeared he had no contingency plans. He made the mistake of not doing things through 3rd party channels (For plausible deniability reasons).

We had people turning down the job that were never offered (Lavin), we had the publicity of the Barnes/Calipari turndowns, then we had the egg on our faces of the Belein buyout.

Top that all off with the panic hire of a guy that had never coached in college and didn't have his degree, and thus, was not eligible, and it was just a clusterfuck of a coaching search.

I don't think Yow will ever personally interview or talk to a candidate until she knows that he will say yes and have a general agreement of what kind of contract/bonuses/salary we're talking about.

Ok tickets went up by 180 or whatever. Average attendance, you know, people at the games had to go down. I was wrong man! I can admit it! Season ticket sales went up but attendance still went down. Attendance will be up next year regardless who the new coach is.

What's really sad about this season is we didn't even make my "pessimistic" prediction of 6-10.
