Where does that put our class if we get Warren? I can't remember if we were already top 5 or just hovering outside of it.
And if we get Warren and Jefferson, I think that could put us at #1. That would be pretty fucking sweet for Gott's first full class. 10/26/2011 2:59:23 PM |

lol, everyone knew that if UNC didn't get Warren that they were gonna put a cloud around it to make it look like it was by their choice. They do that with every recruit. They've been hoping for McGary like CRAZY the entire process, but now that it looks like they have no chance at him, all the sudden they are "just waiting for 2013"? lol, yeah right... 10/26/2011 4:47:25 PM |

i hope our recruits are smart enough to know that if we do have a horrendous season, it's because we are lacking elite talent and have little depth.
i mean the fact that we're even in the conversation for these guys should tell you what you need to know. it's not like we've been hanging banners the past 4 years. it's the new coaching staff that has them convinced, not Sidney Lowe's leftovers.] 10/26/2011 5:29:38 PM |

i know you didn't make that, but normally a flow chart is a tiny bit more complex than just a tree. and they're especially not trying in this case b/c they reach the same conclusion in every path.

no, we lack elite talent. we have a few guys that qualify as "elite talent", but until our players compare to Duke/UNC, we lack elite talent on their level. it's one thing to have a 5* player or two, but to bring in a 5* player (or more) every year, then we can claim that we are a solid destination for high profile recruits. 10/26/2011 11:02:22 PM |

Brice Johnson was 4 stars, as are all of their recruits this year according to Scout. But I agree in general.
Looking over UNC's commits for '12, they don't have the insanely talented crop they normally pull in. Outside of Page, it's pretty average (for them). Even he's only a 4-star.
That year they pulled in Lawson, Ellington, and Wright was just unfair. All were ranked the top prospect at their position. Same with the Felton, McCants, May year. 10/26/2011 11:10:22 PM |

odds Purvis & Warren become McDonald's AAs?
With a Warren commit, we could potentially have (3) on the team.
on that note, how the hell was Brandon Costner a McDonald's AA with his lollerskates on.

Quote : | "Next at NC State
Five-star T.J. Warren will decide next week. Who do you think NC State will get next as a recruit for 2012 class?
- Steve from Raleigh
The odds are extremely strong that it will be five-star forward T.J. Warren. He is down to North Carolina State and Georgetown and will decide Wednesday next week.
He is from Raleigh, North Carolina, and his father played for the Wolfpack, so it would be a major upset if Georgetown were to land him.
If North Carolina State does add Warren to its recruiting class, they will have a four-star point guard known for his distributing ability in Tyler Lewis and a top 10-ranked prolific scoring guard in Rodney Purvis to go along with Warren, who is a terrific shooter with size.

Quote : | "Will highly-touted basketball recruit pick N.C. State?
By J.P. Giglio - jgiglio@newsobserver.com
T.J. Warren can see himself putting on an N.C. State hat when he makes his announcement Wednesday about which college basketball team he’ll call home next year.
Then again, Warren can see himself wearing a Georgetown hat, too.
Warren, one of the best prep basketball players in the country, will make his decision between the two schools at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H. Click here to find out more!
“I’m going to be excited and relieved at the same time,” said Warren, who’s from Durham.
A 6-foot-7 small forward who’s ranked as the 23rd-best prospect in the 2012 recruiting class by ESPN, Warren has been getting the full-court press from his friends and fellow top-75 recruits, Rodney Purvis and Tyler Lewis, to pick N.C. State. His father Tony Warren, a former Wolfpack guard, has not tried to persuade him, however.
“My dad hasn’t put any pressure on me at all,” Warren said. “Wherever I feel like I want to go, that’s what he wants me to do. It’s my decision.”
Top-rated guards Purvis, of Raleigh, and Lewis, of Statesville, have both already committed to N.C. State and new coach Mark Gottfried.
“Tyler and Rodney are both real good friends,” Warren said. “They’ve been on me to be part of history.”
If Warren joins them, Gottfried would have a the foundation to build a winner with the Wolfpack, ESPN recruiting analyst Dave Telep said.
“It would be an awfully good start for Gottfried,” Telep said. “It’s also a statement that N.C. State is interested in the guys in the state of North Carolina and would have street cred in signing three of them.”
Warren, who played at Raleigh’s Word of God last year, pared his college choices down to the Wolfpack and Hoyas last Wednesday, eliminating Florida and North Carolina.
Warren said he received a scholarship offer from the Tar Heels but said they wanted him to play power forward. His preference is to play on the wing at small forward.
Last Wednesday, UNC added 6-9 forward Brice Johnson, the 25th-ranked player in the class, instead.
Warren said UNC was recruiting him with his Brewster Academy teammate Mitch McGary, a 6-10 power forward who Telep ranks as the second-best player in the class.
“They wanted us to come together,” Warren said. “They would have taken me and Mitch, but we felt like that wasn’t the spot for us.”
McGary’s down to either Duke or Michigan, Warren said.
Warren shot up the national recruiting rankings with a strong showing this summer. In May, he scored 41 points in a duel with Lewis at Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions in Raleigh and was named the MVP of the annual club showcase.
“I just tried to stay consistent all summer with my game,” Warren said. “I wanted to show that I’m one of the top guys out there.”
N.C. State and Georgetown already agree on that. Giglio: 919-829-8938
