Easy there buddy. Slow your roll.
I know he wants to play the wing, but more than likely our 3/4 is going to be interchangeable. There will be plenty of PT available for him if he comes here.11/3/2011 10:11:32 AM |

No, but I think Stanford is the cream of the crop.... and yes (depending on your major choice), some degrees from NCSU are pretty worthless.
So, your saying that if Amile came here, you think he would get at least 15 minutes of playing time each game? I personally don't think he would.

Quote : | "I meant that its bullshit that UNC dropped Warren, and not the other way around.
UNC is trying to spin it that they are out of schollies, yet they are still recruiting Mitch McGary. And there is no way that one of their guys doesn't leave early next year (or there is some kind of other defection). There is a reason McGary is still being recruited.
Roy wanted Warren...Warren didn't want UNC." |
It was common knowledge that Warren was going to stay in-state and was down to UNC and State. He had maintained a timeline of announcing his decision around Christmas and signing in the spring. Brice Johnson commits to UNC and, literally, within hours Warren suddenly moves up his timeline and UNC is no longer listed. Pretty obvious what happened there. There was no longer any need for him to wait since his decision had already been made for him. Thing is I'm not even saying Warren would have definitely come to UNC but I liked our chances. He no longer had that option though. Class separation also played a role as we already have a couple of elite SFs on the roster in Bullock and Hairston (assuming Barnes is gone after this year).
Regarding McGary, of course we would have taken him because he was that elite big man that we really desired in this class. He was a Michigan lean throughout the process though with Duke being 2nd. He wasn't coming to UNC and we knew that so we moved on. Warren is a very good prospect but not on McGary's level and they play different positions as well. Not really comparable situations. Again, Roy would've taken guys like McGary or Tarc in a heartbeat but realized it just wasn't going to happen.
Also, we felt comfortable moving onto 2013 because we are in great shape with some really elite prospects in that class. Already have Hicks committed and in very good shape with guys like Nate Britt, Troy Williams, and Kennedy Meeks, among others. We're loading up for a monster class in 2013.11/3/2011 10:22:11 PM |

Pretty much the type of response I expected. No explanation why he completely changed his timeline and was no longer considering UNC within hours of Johnson committing to the Heels. It was just a coincidence I suppose.

I specifically stated that would have been a possibility but Johnson took the last scholly at UNC. I know Warren's dad played at State and he's good friends with Lewis and Purvis. He may have ultimately picked State over UNC anyway.11/3/2011 11:00:01 PM |

i guess one could spin it as "he announced a decision date but didn't have a clear leader" , but that would be a UNC person saying that he wanted to go to UNC, but because his position was filled, he went elsewhere. 11/4/2011 1:24:23 AM |

He had the chance to pick UNC. You don't think he knew that Johnson was going to Carolina? Or that it wasn't even a good possibility that his scholarship was going to be gone when Johnson scheduled his announcement?
You think he was sitting at home when Johnson announced for UNC and went, "What?? UNC?? That means there isn't a scholarship available for me now! Dangit! Guess it's down to State and Georgetown now..."

Jefferson could definitely push us to the top.
Either way, it's not really about the ranking (although it's definitely a strong correlation). Its about having players that fit positions and needs. I really really really like the players that we have committed right now. Damn recruiting getting me excited again. I wasn't happy with Lowe last year, but Harrow/Brown/Leslie gave me a little bit of hope.

After that video on Purvis, I'm really impressed. He's the kind of player that helps you win games, tournaments, championships, etc. He's obviously a great basketball player. He's explosive, quick, and downright violent with the basketball. But he has his head on straight and is certainly mature for his age. I always find it to be an especially good sign when a kid like this doesn't find his identity in that little round ball. He wants to be identified as a good person, christian, family guy before he's identified as a basketball player. This boy gonna be good! 11/4/2011 9:08:18 AM |

Now that we have all these great guards coming in ... we really need a top 5 Center. That is the one recruit that would alone make us a legit top 5-10 team come 2 years from now.
Gotta have someone around the 6-10 - 7ft mark who can dominate down low.
