God damnit, I've been using xfire for over a year and a half now you, so don't go talking down to me.

When I said it worked great, I meant the workaround worked great. What I wanted to know, if you read carefully, is how to get the patch popup to disappear...the thing with the click here for info or whatever. It's what comes up after the login screen.

I have to connect to servers twice

the first attempt always ends in a "connection to server was lost" message

I don't know about the popup, but with the workaround you don't have to worry about it. You see the popup but then it joins the server anyway with you having to do anything, so I don't worry with it.

the only way bunny-hopping will go is if they recode the jumping to where u can only jump once every certain amount of times in a given time: like once per 2 seconds or something. dont see that happening any time soon unfortunately. the bunny-hopping is way out of control; i'm starting to stick with just the M203 so that i can nade the fucker jumping around.

Why can't they just give players a short one foot verticle jump like normal, gear-carrying soldiers instead of a four foot two-second jump?

Ooooh, have you ever seen the jetpack hopping in Tribes? It makes stuff like this look absolutely tame by comparison. That's largely why whenever I see someone hopping, it's all I can do to keep from busting out laughing.

I really haven't seen too much bunny hopping in BF2 thus far. And fortunately for me, when I do see it, I wind up having the shotgun on me 9 out of 10 times. Hope all you want - shotguns are the anti-bunny weapon of choice.

they just need a slow down on movement after landing and a delay on the jump...it doesn't have to be a big lag, something small will do

and the 203 doesn't do enough damage to the guy shooting when he hits at close range. I'm tired of people launching a 203 from 5 feet and not dying. I've fired my fair share of hundreds of rounds of the 203 ammo, and I wouldn't want to be within 30 feet of an explosion.

The absolutely most annoying thing about TK'ing is when you come to the horrible realization that you're in a server where the dumbass admins have disabled the punishment/boot system. There's always some faggot who is aware of that and will do nothing but TK for the entire round. I really, really, really hate and despise those people. My time is valuable to me, and I do not enjoy having to waste it because of one peckerhead who thinks it's entertaining to screw things up for everyone else.

You guys ever play Call of Duty multiplayer?

Talk about bunny hopping...man it was insane before they patched to correct it. I was on a couple TWL ladders before the patch and bunny hopping was a strategy used by every team.

It was a different kind of bunny hop though. People would go from prone to in the air and back to prone. If they did it fast enough, their legs would be on the ground and their torso would be bent 90 degrees backwards, like a cobra about to strike. It was kind of funny to see but after you got killed by it enough times it was annoying.


IMO they need to make it so that you can't even fire your weapon if you jump more than 2 times in a row. That would help solve the problem. I don't mind a bunny hopper who is trying to get away, usually I can go prone and pick him off. It's the ones who bunny hop around you and shoot at the same time that are annoying.

With the TKing problem...I take it you play a lot of unranked servers? I've never had a single problem with TKing on purpose on the few dozen servers I frequent with other tourney members.

From what I have heard it just takes a lot of practice to get fairly decent with attack choppers. I am pretty competent with the transport choppers but I can't do shit in an attack chopper unless I am gunning. Does anyone know if gunner seat kills count for the helicopter combat ribbon (I think it is like 19 kills in a round, 15 minutes in a helicopter in a round). I'm not sure if you actually have to be pilot of an attack chopper or if you can get it as gunner in the black hawk or attack chopper.

My helo and jet controls on the joystick are set up exactly the same. You'll get the hang of it eventually, it just takes time. The key to doing your straffing runs as a pilot is to plan your angle of attack. You really have to watch what is past your target or you'll end up killing the enemy, but then running into a hill or trees after trying to pull up out of the strafing run.

if you are within 4 pts of someone, your skill is close

there a measure of luck ivolved anyway, sometimes you can get up on a HMMW car turret and rack up 26 pts before you are shot...other times you get shot in the back

a lot of luck and intuition when you turret becuase of theblind spots

OK, I may be in the minority, but I have discovered this evening that I LOVE the Barrett. I haven't played sniper since the demo, but the Barrett is simply fantastically accurate - even at a distance. Now, while I do think it's ridiculous that it fires such a huge round but you have to shoot someone twice (unless you get a headshot) to kill them, I have thus far been very accurate with it. I almost feel like I've discovered a new aspect of the game which I had previously written off.

at extended ranges at which I typically like to snipe (when I'm just going it solo sometimes) it just does not have the accuracy that the M24 seems to have

i did some testing in a closed server with a friend with each gun - the M24 hit 8 times out of 10 whereas the barrett was hitting 4 out of 10 from the same distance - drove me nuts... we did it quite a few times to be sure and then had a sniper contest and whoever had the M24 won - it doesn't fire as fast but as a sniper it is more about hitting the target than how many rounds you can fire

not bashing the barrett.. just explaining why i haven't chose it as an unlock yet.. I have remaining to pick assault, sniper, or support with 1 active selection.. just cant talk myself into any of the upgrades yet

See, I seem to be having the exact opposite problem. In my experience, I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with the M24 even at assault rifle distances. I could fire on a completely stationary target and would typically just miss them outright. With the Barrett, though, I can line right up and pop 'em in the head with nearly complete reliability so long as my aim is steady. I wonder why there's such discrepancy...? I'll have to give the M24 another chance just to see if it still functions like I remember.

I was upset when I wasted my first unlock on the Barrett. Thankfully I got 3 more after the patch.

G36C is an awesome weapon, very accurate and powerful. I tried sniping with all the rifles and unless I'm using the SVD I don't even try anymore.

Since I almost always roll medic with my squad of regulars, I unlocked it first. In fact, I rarely play anything other than medic or anti-tank. I just can't bring myself to get the DAO-12 yet...it would be good for close quarters, but I tend to use anti-tank on the open maps only. I unlocked the G3 and G36C as well...no idea what to use my new unlock on.

Well don't waste it on the engineer shotgun, that thing is a piece of junk. I picked one up off a guy a while back. Only has 7 shots and takes a year to reload. DAO-12 has 12 shots and is much faster to reload, plus you can cheat it by reloading a couple shells, switching to pistol, then back to shotgun (if you're in a bind).
