Yeah I probably would have ordered something if I was hungry. Maybe some eggs and whole wheat toast.

I've been on an ice cream binge lately. Shits good but after this pint is gone no more for a while.

I'm still losing weight and eating well on all other occasions so i'm not too worried. Damn silly cravings though mang. Such a fight!

Lot's of omega 3 fatty acids. Helps with weight loss. good for your heart, skin, hair, and help the brain.

Pretty good nutrient but I don't eat enough fish or other things like nuts and such to get the full benefit.

if you dont have self control with ice cream just try having some icecream before your workout. Just NEVER EVER have empty calories before you go to bed

Yeah, I need to do the "Stop eating after 9pm" bit. I've been slacking on that front. Out of sight out of mind, I jsut won't buy any bad foods like that.

On work days I can't eat until 9pm or so for a good quality meal.

Word!

I got it during a moment of weakness and hunger, ha.

It's cool, my head is still in the game. You can eat healthy and have your treat but it's a treat for a reason. Time to straighten up for a bit.

I keep ice cream, but I never fix a bowl. I just open it up, set it on the island, take a few bites, and put it back. That seems to be enough to fill my wants. It seems like a serving of Breyers vanilla was around 130 calories and I eat way less than a serving.

A few bites is all I really need. Plus i have these fudgicle bars that are only 80 calories for the serious craving. It seems to be the only snag since I've started this diet. Growing up we had ice cream every night for dessert and damned if this isn't the hardest thing to get over.

I don't crave soda, no fast food, fried shit, stuff battered smothered and covered, none of that. just the god damn ice cream for dessert. I can cut it out for a while but then I get weak and get some more! I'm seeing results but I know my body would be better off without that shit right before bed. Ideas?? This is one of those baby step break ups I think...

Kiwi... try buying that drinkable yogurt... Its like you drink it and feel full. When i started drinking that for breakfast every morning I started feeling really good. I also notice that when i buy food to eat fo the day rather than the week I control my eating habits better then too. Its a pain to search for food when i want it but at least when its really time to eat, I'll go get something to eat yeah i dont keep food in my fridge except like watermelon because i have been jonesin' for that all summer

Ha ha yeah i feel you on that... I always want to eat recees peanut butter cups!!! ALL THE TIME! Except when i was in CO... PROLLY cause i wasn't stressed out in CO

I definitely like feeling full when I go to sleep. If I'm a little hungry my stomach will keep me up for several hours. i could have some walnuts and raisins but it's not sweet like chocolate is sweet. fruit isn't even a good replacement for that wonderful sweet taste chocolate gives you.

I can cut it out again and last for a little while but I know it'll come back, I want a permanent solution.

I don;t think that's so bad though, this is the last hurdle to my successful lifechange. Besides figuring out how to maintain a weight....

500 hundred calories of protein is better than 100 calz of sugar
Dont start playing a numbers game with calories or else you'll be fooling yourself that 100 calorie snacks are good for you.

I know that. I don't count calories anymore. I know what the good foods are and stick to them and eat until I'm full, or know I will be full in twenty minutes or so.

I don't crave ice cream during the day, it's just at night. People say that's emotional eating but I have no idea what is causing that. Not a freaking clue.

I like sweets and would like to be able to enjoy them in my lifestyle. I don't think you should cut out everything for the diet, you won't be happy and will be likely to break it. I just need a less devastating way of fulfilling that craving.

I think there are sugar free fudcicles that are 10-30 calories. I haven't had them in a couple of years, but I know they are pretty low.

It's purely habit. Until you actually force yourself to stop eating icecream at night you'll always going to crave it. Try drinking water, eating a carrot or something instead

I wonder if they taste good.

These bars have 14 grams of sugar per serving (1 bar).

eh. your body can turn 500 calories of protein into more than 100 calories of glucose through gluconeogenesis if you're not in a nitrogen deficit. blanket statements can't always be made like this.

Kiwi, you might want to keep an eye out for the saturated fat content of the ice cream you're eating. Breyers and a few other companies have recently come out with fat free ice cream that is free of added sugars, and they taste pretty good in my honest opinion. I'm not advocating eating it a lot, but if you're going to have the occasional bowl then you might as well get the 70 calorie a serving version that's made with splenda and milk sugars instead of the 1200 calorie tub of ben & jerry's that has 40 grams of saturated fat in the container.

Sugar free fudgcicles tasted almost identical. Some things don't suffer much from using non-sugar sweeteners.

I had a vegetarian dish at the mexican restaurant this weekend and held off on the chips and salsa....it felt good to not be stuffed...and I wasn't starving later.

Then Sunday, for some god awful reason, my dad wanted to go to Denny's and I tried to order a grilled chicken salad with dressing on the side and no cheese...THEY WERE OUT OF CHICKEN.......blah. So I had a small salad...which she COVERED in dressing and I spooned off and left half of the salad there. I got home and had a banana and went to bed. What a dissapointing father's day meal. They didn't even have tarter sauce for my dad.

How can they be out of chicken on a holiday like that?

Good job with the self control! The hardest test is going out with people not on a diet and picking the healthiest choice. Shitty about Denny's bu there are better restaurants out there.

^^no kidding... and the when you do order something healthy, the people you're with look at you like you've lost your mind. and say shit to you about it. i find this is the worst with coworkers... i don't say anything to them about the junk they eat, yet when i order my healthy dish, it's all "WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU, YOU DON'T NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT" umm hello. i just want to eat healthy and not GAIN weight! /rant

gg on losing the weight, Kiwi, keep it up!

It shouldn't be and I feel half way ridiculous saying this, but it is almost embarrassing for me to eat a grilled chicken salad and water at a restaurant. Because all of my friends will know I'm dieting. As a guy, it just seems like an admission of insecurity. Obviously, I should be proud that I'm eating healthier but it just doesn't feel like that for some reason.

^^^^ Thanks. I guess it is mostly easier for me because during the week I am taking classes with other teachers and since everyone knows I teach Foods and NUTRITION, it seems like they will be looking at me. We get lots of breaks to get a snack and I have been taking my 100 calorie packs and fruit so the vending machines are not even tempting.

It's crazy how easy it is once you start. I mean, I still have my little cheats like a bite of the boyfriend's chinese or a nibble of a cookie, but like you said, treats are a lot more exciting when they are special.

Recipe share time!!!

Chicken Lettuce Wraps
Bibb lettuce (it's near the regular lettuce in Food Lion but it has spinach consistency and it's like a little plant in a plastic container)
2 Tbsp. lite Italian dressing
1 tsp Mrs. Dash Sundried Tomato and Basil spice
3 oz. chicken breast, cut into slices
1/2 carrot (jullienne sliced-matchstick sized slices)
1/2 cucumber (jullienne sliced-matchstick sized sliced)
Cook chicken strips in the Italian and Mrs. Dash until no longer pink
Load Bibb Lettuce pieces with chicken and cucumber and carrots and wrap them up and enjoy. You can use a dipping sauce like Asian Peanut dressing or Italian dressing but they are fine without it.

I had these for dinner tonight sans the dipping sauce.

Sounds yummy. I wonder if "cellophane" (sp????) noodles are okay for you, I imagine not but they were wonderful in PF Chang's lettuce wraps.
