i know the 5 valve motors can breath well... but don't usually stock. (mostly because why have a great breathing head when you have a turbo that chokes at ~200whp" |
stock cams.. mine is the first 1.8t, the AEB, which has significantly larger intake ports. the head is pretty much stock, except a refresh and supertech inconel exhaust valves.
don't really need cams for my power goal, which is 400 bhp.6/6/2012 4:45:48 PM |

Not yet. The VIR charity laps are the only "event" I have done so far. I have signed up for VOI12 (Viper owner's invitational) in Charlotte this year and there will be a bunch of driving events (track, autocross, & drag) that I will finally get to try out. 6/7/2012 11:42:28 AM |

Autox seems ill suited to Vipers (at least from my firsthand observations). That's like a bull in a china shop.
Naturally she'll shine at a track event. 6/7/2012 12:00:20 PM |

i still keep wondering if i want to go fmic, bigger tmic, or a/w tmic with front mounted heat exchanger.
I would just go fmic if it wasnt like 7'+ of piping on a damned subaru.

yeah around 330wheel.
top mount has nasty heat sink I hear correct? 6/8/2012 2:58:48 PM |
sumfoo1 soup du hier 41043 Posts user info edit post |
Yeah the problem with the hood scoop is its an air scoop while moving... and engine chimney when stopped. With and air to water the heat soak is negligible with an air to air... the thing is a boost heater until you hit about 20mph. The fmic introduces another ~100-200rpm lag.

yes my fmic has introduced more lag I can feel it.
The ARC sidemount that I had was sick, insta-spool. I just don't believe it was getting enough flow the way it was setup. Besides i picked up this godspeed setup at a good deal.

will be installing oil cooler and the last couple of water lines tonight, pulling it off the stand, installing the rear main/flywheel/clutch and bolting up the trans and starter. might get to dropping it in the car, just have to see how i feel. hope to have it running by mid-week, if not sooner. 6/9/2012 2:51:20 PM |

My friend picked up a sr hatch for 2500. We replaced the thermostat, waterpump and have begun tidying up the car. Going back through it and making it a less ragged hatch. So far runs well. Man so much room in the bay with those sr's. 6/11/2012 4:33:08 PM |

I had a productive day . . . . found the exact perfect transmission for my newly acquired 92 F150 XLT 4x4 at LKQ. It was a shot in the dark, never thought there would be an M5OD transmission of the right year range (4x4 and manual), but was there anyways and took a bit to look. It was in a wrecked 96 Bronco with a crazy purple paintjob of all things.
Now my truck will actually have reverse! Currently its perfect aside from that . . . . just makes parking interesting. 6/16/2012 12:36:26 AM |

got most of the stuff on my audi hooked up. still have to connect the wiring that runs to the radiator support, but that shouldn't take long. also have to hook up the rad hoses and install the coolant reservoir and add fluids. was making good progress saturday night, but stopped around 1am. initial fire up hopefully tonight. 6/18/2012 10:34:16 AM |
