If we were playing better and had picked up a few more points then I wouldn't be as mad about this game, but we've lost 2 close games to Boston, one to Pitt, and one to NJ in our last 10 or so and only got 1 point out of those. Hopefully we can build off this, not a bad game at all, just frustrating not to get any points. I'd love to finish off this trip with 3 straight wins, that Tampa game Saturday is pretty big.

eh, that game was gonna be good for us either way (unless they both got points by going to overtime) since we are gaining on the Rangers too.

We just gotta start winning again, hell I would be happy with a couple overtime losses against the top tier teams at this point. An overtime game at a 2nd place Tampa team tonight wouldnt be the end of the world, but we need to get something, and definitely need a win in Atlanta next week

And frankly, Buffalo looks they're gonna make a good push for the playoffs as well. 2 games in hand over us and only 2 points back. Those bastards look like they're gonna make it in no matter what we do, so we need to start shooting for 7th place at a minimum instead of 8th.

Maybe got demoted to the fourth line because he was being his inconsistent self? Therefore he gets sent down?

We are a team with some good players and some odd parts, a poor defense, and one of the lowest payrolls in the league, yet we are in playoff contention. I just don't get why you are so sour all the time.

I'm fine with different guys getting a look on the top line; but Boychuk was playing solid (at least better than Samsonov) on the top line.

When this team had the most success this year, it was when we ran a 4th line as a checking line (and I was happy about it) with Bodie, Carter, and Tlusty. Granted injuries have forced Mo's hand in setting line combos, but what I fail to understand is the constant in game line juggling with the exception of the Ruutu line.

I like what LaRose brings to the table as far as his energy, agitation, and occasional goal scoring; but his game is not suited as a 1st line winger; neither is Samsonov. While Boychuk certainly has some inconsistencies in his game as we should expect with a young player; his skill set is an offensive one, not a checking one; so why not put him out there with a longer leash? If he's to grow as a player, either leave him in Charlotte where he can play 18~20 minutes, or give him a chance to shine here, and not buried on the 4th for ~5 minutes a night.

Well, I agree to an extent, but we have to have someone on the fourth line. And I think you really undervalue Samsonov, he's not a top line winger, but I would argue that we only have one-- and he is doing great playing with Ruutu. Sammy is quick, and still has some dangle left in him.

Maybe if we had another body on the wing for the fourth line we could keep boychuk and dalpe in Charlotte until playoff time. Then it would be worth it to have the kids play only 8 min a game. But, with injuries and who we have under contract, you have to do something.

I'm still convinced we're shopping him aggressively, so I can understand he's on the top line for that purpose. Perhaps some team can see him as an offensive threat. But playing him with Staal is counterproductive. Both he and Staal are players that are at their best when they're able to control the puck and create a play with possession. Having two guys like that on the same line with a player with hands of stone (Cole) is not a real threat more often than not.
