unfortunately, that's not enough. There is something seriously wrong when the #2 guy in the race can't even get a tenth of the airtime in a debate as the two candidates trailing him because the moderators won't ask him questions. Obviously CNN and Fox are back to their old game of "Ron Paul doesn't exist". 1/19/2012 10:05:20 PM |

always defensive and nervous and retaliating and emotional. horrible qualities.

There is no room in the GOP for a moderate republican....although Mitt has the best shot at beating Obama in the general, looks like Newt might win the nomination and then Obama wins reelection. Obama's best hope is that Newt wins....hell, there isnt alot of difference between Mitt and Obama anyhow, maybe that is why Mitt polls well against Obama.

Mitt has no shot at beating Obama. Zero. The only way one of these nominees comes within' a mile of the oval office is if the European economy completely collapses in 2012. I mean look at this shit.

Go to about 9:24, Romney basically admits that Obama's done a good job of turning around the economy. Obama hasn't even started campaigning yet and the GOP has given up. 1/21/2012 3:25:13 PM |

Interesting to see Gingrich surging here. I mean, the guy is not a conservative on any fucking level. He's a big government progressive that pays lip service to "conservative principles", but at the end of the day, he is bought and paid for and he's another establishment politician.
Gingrich winning is a good thing here. It undermines Romney, which is positive in my book. Of course, it doesn't matter if Obama, Romney, or Gingrich are President. All three would lock in American decline, they'd just offer different rhetoric. These primaries are really about appearance, nothing more - it's Ron Paul versus Obama/Gingrich/Santorum/Romney.

This is just like W in 2004, W was weak but Dems didnt have anyone to really put up against him worth a shit...2016 is when everyone on the GOP side will be running, some that passed over running this time around probably want Obama to win...because 2016 Biden isnt going to run so it will be wide open on both sides as to who wins each sides nomination. I am sure if Mitt doesnt get the nomination this time around he will be running again, and Paul will be too, Paul is kinda the GOP Nader.

Speaking of which, I don't understand how Rand is a Tea Party darling, yet Ron gets booed at GOP events and is viewed by some as worse than a liberal Democrat.
I just don't see a very meaningful difference between father and son, which makes that disparity bizarre to me. 1/21/2012 6:20:48 PM |

How could anyone like Newt?
What redeeming qualities could he possibly have?
Seriously, he's an embarrassment to civilized society. His positions alone that he's publicly stated in this election cycle alone are fucking terrifying. From casually linking black people with poverty and black children with pimping and prostitution, to his gross desire to strip away child labor laws? The man says that we should get tough on drug enforcement and look to Singapore as an example (they execute drug users, by the way). He openly declares that an entire society is "invented" and declares them all to be terrorist without making any distinction. He wants to arrest judges that he views as "activists" and openly states that he wouldn't enforce laws he disagrees with. He's a warhawk and a draft-dodger, a Lutheran turned Southern Baptist turned Catholic who thinks that this country is being destroyed by secularism. And, he's a fucking lobbyist, to boot.
Nevermind the consecutive failed marriages he's pumped out, the man is an absolute hypocrite on every issue he claims to promote.
He would be a complete travesty as president. No two ways about it. He's not running for president, he's running for emperor. 1/22/2012 12:57:37 PM |

953 dead people voted in SC 1/22/2012 7:30:31 PM |
spöokyjon ℵ 18617 Posts user info edit post |
Just going to copy and paste the top comment from Reddit since I'm too lazy to type it out myself:
Quote : | "More likely than not, 75% of these "dead voters" will turn out to be cases of mistaken identity. Meaning, living voters with the same name as people who have recently died. Father/son pairs are the usual explanation. Probably 90% remainder will likely be due to the legitimate voter on either side of them in the poll book signing the wrong line. In that case, the dead person didn't actually vote. Then, there'll be a few cases of people who cast an absentee ballot and then died afterwards. Don't know what the law is in SC if it still counts. Ultimately, there might be less than half a dozen cases where a widow cast a ballot for a recently deceased spouse. Nonetheless, we'll keep hearing about the "hundreds of dead people" that voted in the SC primary for years and years and how that justifies onerous voter id laws that'll prevent hundreds of thousands of legitimate voters from exercising their constitutional right. Republicans tend to do a shoddy job with voter data because they know the first big scary number is what will stick with voters and the press. A half-way decent matching job would've cut the number of "fraud" cases by 90%." |

what the hell is "onerous" about a law that says you ought to fucking prove who you say you are before you get to vote? seems pretty damned sensible to me. some people don't have IDs? OK, let's help em get IDs. damn, that was fucking hard 1/22/2012 9:40:46 PM |
