i disagree too. I think if we beat BC & UVA and play a decent semifinal, we're in. A win over unc woudl obviously lock us in the 1st rd, likely around 11/12 seed.
Can you imagine if UNC lost, and we went on a 3 game tear to reach the title game, and then took out Dook in a revenge game? aaahhh eternal hope. 3/5/2012 3:49:41 PM |

he's certainly played well enough over the last couple weeks to consider going pro
but part of that is him being allowed to play to his strengths instead of jogging around and taking jumpers like he did under Lowe
i'm hoping he realizes he can get better with another year in this system, cause most of the NBA mock drafts i've seen that even mention him don't have him as a lottery pick
optimistically, he'll stick around, Rivers will go pro, Barnes, Zeller and Henson will go pro, and we'll have a legitimate shot at contending for the ACC title next season
nc state shitically, he'll have a good ACC tourney run, will go pro, UNC barely loses to Kentucky in the Final Four, and Barnes, Zeller and Henson decide to return next year] 3/5/2012 4:56:56 PM |

We just have to hope that the coaches and Brown, Wood, and Howell can convince CJL to stay one more season. With the guys we have coming in, you hope he realizes that he has the chance to be the best player on a potentially very good team.
^ Zeller is a senior and has to go pro. Barnes is probably gone, Henson likely gone, Marshall is probably the most likely to stay. I think Rivers will stay as Duke will be heavy favorites next year with the expected departures at UNC if he does.

also Stanford is now 94th in the RPI, does that mean we have 2 bad losses instead of 3?
Texas currently 51st, Miami currently 56th, we are currently 57th

Our rpi would get a nice little bump with two wins and sos loss vs unc.
Miami winning could give us some top 50 wins but might sneak them past us for a spot.
It's definitely going to be interesting 3/5/2012 5:13:42 PM |

^^but don't they consider a "bad loss" to be "losing to a team with an RPI of >100" ?
the same way if Miami or Texas gets into the top-50, we'll magically have "quality wins" ? 3/5/2012 5:14:44 PM |

I really think it's us or Miami, the ACC isn't getting six teams. The only scenario where we'd want Miami to go all the way is if we also make it to the final. Us winning 2 games and them flaming out in their first or second game is our best bet to make the tournament. 3/5/2012 5:39:37 PM |

They don't do it by how many teams get in from each conference, they evaluate teams individually.
I'm certainly not one to shy away from possible conspiracy theories, but after 20+ years of watching selection Sunday I can tell you they are definitely biased into taking more major conference teams than anything.
It won't come down to oh if we take Miami then we can't take state or vice versa. Now it certainly could come down to us two for the very last spot but that's just bc our resumes are very close and we are both squarely on the bubble 3/5/2012 5:52:10 PM |

^^ while on the topic of conspiracies, do they allow teams in that may open up the door to certain markets? Cuz in this case we will not be adding much since UNC and Duke already bring in a ton of viewers. But, it would help the west coast schools.

I thought everyone said last night that we wanted Drexel to lose because even with their 19-game win streak they wouldn't be considered at-large. Well all you fucks were wrong and made me cheer for the wrong team last night. 3/6/2012 11:46:31 AM |

^ wow you are pretty stupid. If Drexel won last night, VCU would be in the first 4 in. Drexel has a much weaker resume than VCU thanks to their awful SOS so it was better for us that VCU won and put a Drexel team on the bubble with a horrible SOS. Just because Lunardi has them in right now does not mean shit. 3/6/2012 11:51:11 AM |
BigT716 All American 3458 Posts user info edit post |
Fuck what Lunardi says.
Drexel sports a 227 strength of schedule. They only played 3 top 50 games all year and their only win in one was to VCU who until last night was a bubble team at best. Their only major conference game was against UVA, and they scored 35 pts on them at a neutral site.
If Drexel gets in, I'm protesting college basketball. 3/6/2012 11:54:57 AM |

I won't. This draft is pretty good, and he can go higher next year. I think he realizes that another year will bump up his stock. However, I don't think he'll stay 4.
Rivers won't go this year. His dad won't let him go unless it is absolutely certain he will be a lottery pick, which he probably won't be this year but will be next year. Going pro early doesn't help him in any way.
On the topic of Drexel, Colorado had a MUCH better resume than them last year with 4 Top 25 RPI wins. But they got passed up because they had a 300+ OOC SOS. Drexel has 1 top 50 win over a bubble team (before the automatic bid) and a 228 non-conference SOS, 259 overall.
