I doubt anything will happen unless Dooley wants to try to look like a hardass. It was stupid I guess, something a 20 years old would do, oh, he is 20, but nothing with criminal intent. Pretty much everyone at the lake does the same shit when on a jetski no matter how old they are. Now, if he had beat someone, or stole something, or anything where his intent was to knowingly break the law then yeah, charge him, but this is just stupid horseplay. Do we need to know about every speeding ticket? He will probably get fined and community service.

^^ oh, I agree that its POSSIBLE to hurt/kill someone horsing around on a jet ski, its also possible to kill someone with your car when traveling 1mph over the speed limit... but both are very very rare and everyone does it. I dont think I've ever seen someone use a jet ski and NOT horse around... its not like its a convertible water taxi that you use to conservatively cross the river because, oh shit, the ferry is full!

"In court on Wednesday, Bray's boating privileges were suspended for a year. He must complete a boater safety course and receive his boater education certificate by February 13. The judge also ordered Bray to do one of two things: make three boater safety educational appearances or do a public service announcement on boater safety for TWRA. Bray was ordered to pay all court costs."

So, charges dismissed as long as he complies. I wonder what the NCAA rules say about making a PSA on boater safety?

Obviously this isn't a huge deal, just a stupid mistake by a college kid. I do wish it meant he was suspended for a game by the coach

In all honesty the coach needs to make him do some sort of punishment to send him a message to stop being an idiot when you have a potentially bright future. Maybe don't let him start the first series or something.

This one isn't a big deal. The beer bottle incident is a bigger deal. The purposeful vandalism is a bigger deal. But the three of them together shows the kind of piss poor attitude that shouldn't be tolerated.

I for one am incensed. This is the kind of shit that makes jet ski insurance rise for everyone!

He should miss exactly one regular season football game for his behavior.

For those of you who think its no big deal think of the poor people out there with multiple jet skis!

How many "he's just twenty-something; letting loose; being a college kid; being stupid; not trying to be mean; breaking the law; but being a good kid breaking the law; but breaking laws that aren't really laws, but still laws" bullshit charges can this kid get and still get no real punishment?

i think that's the big thing. one-time incidents are just that... you let 'em go with a good wrist slap. this guy is showing a pattern of doing really dumb things. if you tack on affecting other people too, that makes it worse. i'd be pissed if i were his coach (dooley may be and probably is, just saying i would be too).

yeh.

Jet-ski deal? fine, kid being a kid; hell, I almost got charged with the same thing years ago (sounds like the exact same situation actually; and I've seen it plenty of times).

Bottle throwing? Less forgivable, something more should have come of that, and there's no excuse; but in the end, not a huge deal.

Put the two together (anything else in his past?) and a pattern starts to emerge.

Kids will be kids, but this guy is about to start another football season; he's supposed to be THE leader on the team. I get that even the leaders are gonna have their fun too, but it seems this kid can't even have fun without fucking up somewhat big time (meaning getting in legal trouble).

And if that tattoo is real, then ahahahaha.

haha, I can guarantee you Dooley is pissed. No doubt about that.

And apparently TT10 uses his jet ski for fishing. And playing chicken with a car on a street is MUCH different than playing it on a lake with a jetski.

Quote :

maybe he will tear that tag that they say not to remove from a pillow... or maybe drive 67 in a 65... or shudder, underage drinking which only hardened criminals do, especially in college. If this was a State player you would all be rolling your eyes and be like "oh you wacky guy you!, calm down buddy!" and there would be no silly talk about him being a criminal or getting away with anything. I promise you, NO one horse playing on a jet ski where no one gets hurt gets 6 months in jail or whatever else the max was... in fact, I bet he is having to do MORE than a typical person arrested for type of incident. Doug from the lake doesnt appear in a PSA typically.

Now, I will be the first to admit that he definitely doesnt think things through and has the forethought of a rock... and I agree with ^... hes definitely not being a JUNIOR leader of the team when he does stuff like this without thinking, you are exactly right. But, he isnt a criminal, he isnt "getting away" with things, etc.

and of course the tattoo was real, thats been well known since he was first known nationally

It's more than just drunken bottle throwing. He and another teammate threw bottles and golf balls at a car (while drunk). A woman nearby called the police on them and reported it, and left a note on the car with the broken windshield. They pay for the damages and the charges are dropped.

Sure enough, after they're reported, the woman who called the police on Bray walks outside in the middle of the day, and her windshield is smashed too. Because no one witnessed it, she can't press charges and she's out a windshield and a damaged car. This to me is more than just drunken antics or guys "having fun". It's vindictive and criminal.

^^ you sure about that?

unless something ELSE happened what I heard is they were throwing bottles off a balcony, a girl saw them doing it. Then, the next day or day after there was a window broken in a car and she left a note for the owner saying that Bray and other dude did it. Thats when they were approached by the police and they agreed to pay for the damages. Definitely didnt hear anything about them breaking a SECOND window after he had agreed to pay for the damages. Him paying for the damages was the last I had heard of the whole thing.

Agreed. And playing chicken with a car is MUCH dumber and more dangerous, for obvious reasons like roads being a lot more narrow than lakes. But they're both really dumb. Period. Spraying someone with whaletail/jetski spray is no big deal, but I've literally never participated in nor seen anyone "play chicken" on a jet ski, or in a boat, or anything, because only idiots would do that.

or maybe risk running someone over or injuring them with a personal watercraft...or maybe using his quarterback arm to hurl beer bottles that could concuss someone or cut them with broken glass as they try to do something sinister like enter their automobile

"Allen went into her apartment Monday to eat lunch about 1:10 p.m., according to the incident report. When she left her apartment about 30 minutes later, she saw that the front windshield of her car had been smashed. She estimated the damages at more than $500.

Allen said an office manager in the apartment complex told her Bray and Grandinetti had been served with an eviction notice just prior to her arriving home for lunch.

DeBusk said because no one witnessed the vandalism to Allen’s vehicle, no charges are expected."

he's not an armed robber or murderer...but his "antics" are a little more mischievous than pulling tags off mattresses or underage drinking...most underage drinkers don't throw their empties at neighbors' cars...most drunken PWCers like to ride fast and jump wakes (Jet Ski is a Kawasaki brand personal watercraft...I have a pet peeve about that, its like people calling all cars Accords regardless of brand)

And it was criminal. I'm not saying he's a raving lunatic thug, but it's a criminal charge, and like I posted above, it's indicative of a piss poor attitude that shouldn't be tolerated.

the one that they agreed to pay for the damages for was the one completely smashed, they didnt break another one after agreeing to pay for it...

the first one that was reportedly hit wasnt part of the agreement at all and the woman never pressed charges

^^ my guess is that is what they were doing, I doubt that, with a girl on his jetski, he literally waited until he was 5 feet away to swerve away from the other jetski. Obviously I dont know the details, none of us do, but when I hear someone talking about "them wild and crazy kids playing chicken!" I dont think of it as a literal death match on the water... they probably swerved away from each other and then the ones that fell off got sprayed. If the ranger dude had come by 10 minutes earlier I'm sure someone else might have been in the water, shit happens all the time.

I think this is what it means:

First incident - Hudson, doesn't press charges. They pay for her car.

Second incident - Allen, can't press charges. No one pays for her car.

i might be wrong, but this is my reading from a few articles I've read today: http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2012/jul/26/uts-bray-linked-to-vandalism-tennessee/

And I never said the second windshield was broken after damages were paid... I said the second windshield was broken, and they didn't offer to pay for it.

the order of your statement above makes it sound like they paid for the damages... charges were dropped... then, after that, they smashed another one. I realize that you said "after they're reported" but it sounds like you are saying that they paid for the damages first. And charges were never brought in the other and they didnt admit to it

^^ and bottom line is if this was a State player you would all agree that its stupid bad for a supposed team leader to do, but not something worthy of him missing time or being considered a criminal.

Alright, I get where you misunderstood. I was just separating out the incidents. There were only like 2 days between them. And we don't know Bray did the 2nd, it's just suspected.

He's not convicted of anything, so he's not a criminal technically, but the actions he performed are criminal.

And I don't think he needs to be suspended right now. But if he continues on this path, he should be.
