a 5'11 170 lb white PG...of course he is going to be a defensive liability. however, the vision, passing ability and scoring he brings can't be understated. No team has 5 defensive shutdown players on their team.

When I see a single player in this game attempt some defense, maybe I'll worry.

lol @ the comment about not being picked for a pick-up game

everyone knows he was thinking about how he's small and white but he's like, "he's small and has a bad looking shot."

haha, yeah. supposedly lewis's coach said that he's the only player's he's coached that wouldn't get picked in a pick-up game.

He leads the #3 hs team in the country w/ 5 senior starters who will all be playing on D1 teams next year (as does the #2 miller grove, i think they said), and he's playing well. Hopefully he grows a little more, but he's pretty good.

he looks good. some games his freshman year might be rough but he does a lot of small things well to be an asset. one thing that sets him apart from harrow is that he's seems to be a passer first, then scorer

expect announcers to call him a lot of terms to avoid saying he's white like "pesky," "crafty" and "wouldn't get picked in a pick up game"

yea I guess that depends on how our roster shapes up. zo SHOULD be back and if purvis can play a capable 1 he's probably seeing 5-10 mins max a game

johnson is a necessity. and he's a 5th yr player and probably has 20 more pounds of muscle than lewis. and he's only averaging about 12 mins over the last 5 games.

[Edited on December 15, 2011 at 9:33 PM. Reason : i remember harrow being called a "water-bug" in hs]

well yeah, lewis will probably play johnson's roll next year, with purvis in the mix. maybe get 7+ mins a game? i dunno, it's all speculation.

no knock on lewis at all, he's having a great game on national tv, they just showed a sweet game-highlight reel of him, accompanied w/ a ton of praise and name-dropped gottfried

hahahaha at this Morris kid going to Georgia. He imploded before the coach took him out. Went 1-4 at the FT line, hung his head, and then lost a open rebound out of bounds.

It's high school, what did you expect? And some of you really don't see Lewis playing much next year? What player are you seeing? This guy is light years better than Alex Johnson....Oak Hill could probably give most colleges a game and Lewis is a key part of that. Really comparing him to Mike O'Donnell? WTF.

[Edited on December 15, 2011 at 10:40 PM. Reason : Lewis will see plenty of time with Johnson and CJW out of the mix. Probably 15 MPG. ]

So you think Purvis sits on the bench or plays exclusively at SG? Not buying either of those scenarios.

^^
Purvis will play a ton, but it will be primarily at the 2, maybe some 3 in a three guard set.(You can most assuredly buy that.) He is NOT a point guard, not even in the Lo Brown sense.

Lewis will get his minutes next year.

It actually breaks down fairly simple.

Purvis will get CJW's minutes.
Lewis will get Alex Johnson's minutes. (maybe more)

The frontcourt is where it gets a little tricky predicting playing time, especially if by some miracle Calvin comes back.

i think it's more like Warren gets most of CJWs (~32 min) time, Purvis gets the rest and steals a few minutes from Zo and part of Alex Johnson's (~21 avg for the season) minutes, and Lewis gets the rest. Lewis still gets about 10-15, and the others split about 40

Rivals classifies him as a PG and in the class rankings they say something to the effect of "he's a point guard who's big enough to play SG in college". Also this is from one of his scout profiles:

Quote :
"One of the best guards in the 2012 class, Purvis is a guy that can play both lead guard and scoring guard. Currently classified as a point guard, Purvis has terrific vision and is a talented passer."

Purvis clearly has NBA aspirations and he is undersized and not a good enough perimeter shooter to play the 2 in the NBA. Spare me the D Wade comparison, a more apt comparison would be John Wall.

A 6'8" guy takes a guard's minutes? Who do you have starting then? And don't tell me Wood at the 2, that's been discussed ad-nauseam.

Yes. Raymond may struggle to ever get minutes here. Harris needs work. Hopefully these guys are 4-year players and improve like CJW has.
