The Saturday before the House of Blues show they are playing a free show in Atlanta at Underground Atlanta (where, I don't know). I have a feeling that is going to be absolute chaos, though, since there is no limit to the number of people that can attend.

the atlanta show is free only to members of the 99x freeloaders. you have to be over 16 and a resident of GA to become a member...i might try and get my friend that lives in GA to sign me up if its possible.

I did not, and it sounds like I made a good decision. Did you go? From what I've been reading it was a disaster:

Quote :
"ATLANTA -- Fights broke out at a free concert at Underground Atlanta Saturday night, and paramedics treated at least a dozen people for injuries.

Some were crushed by the large crowd that turned out for the Downtown Rocks concert featuring the band Weezer.

Police called for backup and summoned ambulances from as far away as Douglas County.

At one point, people in the crowd tried to tear down a vendor's stand. Concert security personnel stepped in to stop them.

None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.

It wasn't immediately clear if police made any arrests."

Quote :
"the show was insane! i was in the front, but i thought i was going to die several times. there were very few cool fans and ton of assholes! overall, I WILL NEVER GO TO A FREE SHOW AGAIN! "

Quote :
"THIS SHOW WAS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't wish this show upon my worst enemy. I got there at 3 o'clock and there were only about 30 or so people at the stage. By the opening band me and my fiance had a very good view about 20 feet from the stage. Then the Bravery came on and people started acting like they were monkeys. People were (this is true) jumping off of traffic lights (it was in the middle of an intersection in downtown ATL) into the crowd, beer bottles were being thrown, and crowd surfers were landing on people in between bands. I have been to plenty of shows (including hard punk rock shows and ozzfest for christ sake) and I have never felt this unsafe. The whole city of ATL was crammed into one city block and people kept pushing and pushing.

I witnessed 3 fights, saw a girl punch a crowd surfer in the head, saw a stupid ass girl with a cowboy hat and a SHORT skirt get groped while crowdsurfing (yet she continued to do it over and over and over again, landing on every person in the audience). My fiance got panicked because she was starting to get trampled so we had to get out. It took us at least 30 minutes to get to safety. By the time weezer came on, we were about 300 yards away and we could not even see the stage. I didn't even stay past the 5th song played because I was so pissed off. As I left I saw many people beign hauled away on stretchers. Shame on 99x for making this concert and not stopping the intake of people (like you promised to do). I drove two hours (5 hours early) to be scared for my life and the life of my fiance, and I didn't even get to see weezer.

I feel sick to my stomach just thinking about it. I hope Weezer never does an event for 99x again."

Foo Fighters & Weezer are going to tour together

The cities, in the order they're listed in the press release, are as follows: Atlanta; Sunrise, Florida; Tampa, Florida; Houston; Austin, Texas; Dallas; San Diego; Phoenix; Denver; Minneapolis; Chicago; Champaign, Illinois; Grand Rapids, Michigan; Detroit; Cleveland; Columbus, Ohio; Baltimore; Worcester, Massachusetts; New York; Philadelphia; Fresno, California; Seattle and Portland, Oregon.

More cities are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, as well as venues, ticket prices — and hey, maybe some dates! The Kaiser Chiefs have already been confirmed as the openers on one leg of the tour, from September 29 to October 11.

i went to see weezer last night. worst weezer show ive been to, but i think a lot of that is because me and my friends were told weezer would go on and start at 10, and we got there about 9:30 and has missed part of their set. the conditions werent the greatest, but not so bad i would say, "I wouldn't wish this show upon my worst enemy."

you ended up not needing that freeloaders membership card, there were so many people it didnt matter. typically, as you get towards the front of the stage at the concert you have to squirm your way through the crowd, but last night you had to do that the second you got into the gates for about 1/2 mile. there were these big white pillars in the middle of the street, so it became impossible to see the stage at a distance. there were people climbing all over street lights, buildings, etc, which really wasnt the problem, it was people trying to throw bottles at them and hitting people in the crowd instead. i actually thought the street corner and set up was kind of cool. there were some people who were way too drunk also, but they mostly just stumbled around looking out of it.

weezer sounded good and rivers seemed a lot more talkative than ive ever seen him before. the only new song i actually saw was haunt you every day, which is one of the better songs off their new album i think. they played some blue, a few pinkerton, a couple of green album songs. it seemed like they played more singles, but probably because a lot of non-weezer people came out to just get drunk and have something to do. overall id say it was a decent show, i only wish id gotten there a lot earlier to allow time to get up to the stage so i could actually see weezer while i heard the music.

I wish Weezer & the Foo Fighters would come to NC, but for some reason I doubt it.

Hey,

Thanks for writing me about SFTBH. I understand that many in the hardcore community are in a constant state of "dying" for these demo's. The only piece of information I can offer is that I am in the process of requesting the demo's from Geffen. I recently talked with Rivers about dishing them out, and he seemed fairly open to the idea. The way he sees it, releasing SFTBH in its entirety should be possible after the rise and fall of all of the Make Believe singles.

Hope this helps calm you guys down a little. Hah!
Karl"

If I get Songs From the Black Hole then I don't really give a shit what Weezer does after that

Well, if you have MTV2, you can now watch the video for "We Are All in Love". As if the song could somehow get any worse, MTV has deemed the word "drugs" offensive it seems (even though it is an anti-drugs song), and "on drugs" has been changed to "in love".

It is truly amazing how far this band has fallen.

"Folks, its all come down to this - Two shows have been added to weezer's US tour, in Fresno on 10/29 and Las Vegas on 10/30. These are headlining shows, Weezer with Canadian style rockers Hot Hot Heat opening. Most importantly, they are the LAST USA WEEZER SHOWS FOR A LONG TIME, so if you haven's seen weezer or want to check 'em out one more time before a break that could last quite a while, NOW is the time to go!"

i meant the rest of the songs from the black hole, you know, back when they were a great band instead of decent band at best with a few good songs here and there.

and if they are taking an extended break, i dont know that id be all that interested if they ever came back. not unless they completely change again.

^ That's it, but we don't have recordings of a lot of those songs.

Here's a good site for SFTBH discussion: http://www.diversifiedrecords.com/SFTBHpod/

If I could hear an actual recording of Superfriend, other than the shitty bootleg from the sound booth on the Video Capture Device DVD, I could care less if they ever recorded another album again.

From Rivers's blog:

Quote :
"UNRLEASED RECORDINGS:

Songs From The Black Hole: All of these songs have been released on the internet or elsewhere except for Superfriend (which is only about three-fifths of a song) and about 5 little interlude pieces. The interlude pieces are cool but they don’t include much new music.

The Homie Record: To my recollection we only finished the drums. I don’t even know where the tapes are. The live bootlegs will give you a much better representation of these songs. This would have been a cool album.

Important Note: I am unable to release any of my demos because I am under contract to Geffen records; they have the exclusive right to release my music. Someday that may change but it won’t be anytime soon. Cover songs are even more complicated because I don’t own the publishing—the songwriters do. Until I can figure out a way to compensate Geffen records (and in the case of covers songs, the songwriters) I can’t give away my recordings.

Here’s a somewhat sobering story: when we were starting to work on Make Believe in 2003, I sat down with Jordan and played him hours of my old demos, going all the way back to the beginnings of Weezer. He didn’t think any of them were album-worthy. Neither did I. The one song he thought was good was “Blast Off” but it “needs a new chorus.” I agreed.

Thanks to all who have expressed their interest in my unreleased recordings. I hope that everything of quality is eventually made available."

Sounds like "Jordan" is a dumbass.

sometimes i kinda wish deep down that

weezer broke up in 1997 and never made anymore music. it's not some asshole elitist notion on my part... it just seems that they reached an artistic pinnacle and have slowly declined since.
