I cleaned it up some today, began learning all the flaws in the paint. I havent decided if its worth a clay bar treatment yet.

^^ that was right after a very intense cleaning. that shine lasts about 12 hours then looks like every other black car. i desperately need to polish and wax it, but im lazy. i would pay someone to do it, but I dont have anyone that i trust not to swirl my paint all up.
^ damn right, and I only have $35 in materials. made from an old RSX intake and stuff from home depot and pepboys. 10/7/2005 1:02:51 AM |

I dont know, its installed on a probationary basis at the moment. If I dont like it, then it comes off. I actually prefer the better filtration and less airflow of paper filters over blowthrough "dirt strainer" oiled cotton fiber or gauze, but who makes a paper element cone filter? 10/7/2005 7:03:18 PM |

preparing extensive tune up/systems overhaul and preventative maintenance extravaganza
accessory belt supercharger belt waterpump heater hoses coolant elbow total coolant flush clean/replace coolant temp/level sensors plugs wires fuel filter overhaul supercharger nosedrive, install new coupler clean intake/throttle body/MAF/IAT/EGR and replace gaskets/o-rings replace transmission filter/total fluid change drop pan/replace oil level sensor
I was thinking of buying a little car to get back and forth while I worked on the car in the garage at home, but I dont know about that.. the current plan is doing all this over one weekend.
I would like to install a modular pulley system, but dont know if thats really cost effective right now. I have a nice little list of other stuff I still need/want to get done like the AC compressor or drivers seat upholstery. 12/1/2005 11:58:43 PM |

Well no more putting it off, I had an idler pulley bearing fail friday night. I worked saturday tearing it down, and sunday cleaning parts and overhauling the SC and am just about ready to start putting it back together. Should be running like new for the new year. 12/26/2005 5:30:22 PM |

Is that the same as the belt tensioner?
Reason I'm wondering is because I think the bearings on my Bonne might be dying too. There's this intermittent metallic rattling/tapping sound which I think might be some bad bearings but I haven't been able to pinpoint the source of the problem. Is the idler pully or tensioner a common problem on this engine?12/26/2005 6:24:44 PM |
optmusprimer All American 30318 Posts user info edit post |
the idler pulleys and tensioner pulleys are pretty similar, some have grooves some dont. because its the supercharged engine, i have two serpentine belts, two tensioners and two idlers. the bearings on the tensioners wernt bad yet but all the idlers were. the way to check is take the belt loose and spin it by hand and listen. if its nice and smooth then youre alright, if it sounds like a millipede rollerskating on glass then change it before it fails. you dont want to lose the belt driving the water pump while driving because itll overheat with a quickness. by the way all the retaining bolts on my idler/tensioner pulleys were left hand thread so they have to go clockwise to loosen them. 12/26/2005 7:44:14 PM |
optmusprimer All American 30318 Posts user info edit post |
CORRECTION the lowermost idler is not reverse threads, its normal and youll need a T-55 TORX socket for it.
