how do we even know if those polls represent an accurate balance of republicans and democrats? some of them have been shown to be skewed in that way.

we know that its accurate because almost all the polls are coming up with the same numbers - or numbers within each other's margin of error (like maybe + or - 2 percent). NOBODY is claiming more than half of the country approves of the job Bush is doing.
