Isn't this supposed to be set when James Bond was in his younger years? Why would they have Judi Dench playing M? 5/1/2006 4:03:55 PM |

I agree completely. Iam Fleming's Bond character in the novels was very disturbed and cold, like the one Timothy Dalton portrayed.5/4/2006 5:14:25 PM |

too much action
i don't like the casino scene, craig's face is too chiseled and too wide
i really hope they don't have him doing the gun barrel from the bathroom and that that was just for the trailer
judi dench staying is messing up my timeline of this movie compared to other movies
i'm really scared about what they're doing here

I think it looks stupid
there are going to be way too many plot holes, not to mention Daniel Craig does not look anything like how Bond should loook (my opinion of course) 5/4/2006 6:03:09 PM |

it's like the producers saw batman begins and thought they could do the same thing to james bond

Yeah, really the only thing that bothers me so far is Judi Dench. I never liked her as M anyways... needs to be an old british guy.
And now since they are going "back to the beginning," it can't possibly work, no matter what they try to say.
Also it looks like there is still that tension between Bond and Dench's M. I never really liked that. 5/4/2006 8:10:25 PM |

Ian Flemming's description of Bond in Casino Royal (written in 1954 btw) was that he somewhat resembled Hoagy Carmichael, but with a lock of hair that would not stay in place, and with a long thin scar down his cheek. Don't remember which one.
I think the whole bond thing needs a big kick in the ass. The Connery thing doesn't work now. It worked 40 years ago. The Moore thing (almost a comedy) worked in the 70's, but not now. etc etc. Drop the fucking gadgets. That whole whipping some spy gadget out while the chick of the moment looks on in stunned disbelief thing was cliche' over 30 years ago. Go back to the books for the real James Bond character. He smoked 3 packs a day, drank like a fish, and in every story gets really pounded in some way. In fact in Casino Royal (book) he gets captured and tortured big time. I mean screaming like a woman, vomiting, praying for death.
Anyway, the last bond film started kind of OK for me then turned into utter stupidity.

i actually think it looks pretty good. some of those scenes reminded me of connery's bond, although i still would've preferred clive owen 5/5/2006 12:56:57 PM |

Yup, I would. I doubt they would do that in the movie so I don't think it's spoiler 5/5/2006 2:46:21 PM |

Bond used to be a spy...over the years they have turned him into more of a superhero that just blows shit up in every scene I think it's stupid. Connery was the best by far (even if he wasn't anything like Ian Flemming wanted). Why can't they make great ones like Goldfinger, Nr. No, and You Only Live Twice anymore.
And about this blonde thing . . . Roger Moore was blond as well. 5/6/2006 12:59:10 PM |
