yeah, her appearance in the movie is her natural look. Joss asked her to put on 20 lbs for the role in the series, but she had slimmed back down by the time the movie production started.

My roommate loved the series, and I was hesitant about seeing the movie but I decided to rent it. I actually enjoyed it, pretty funny movie with good special effects and a solid story. I thought some of the out-takes were hilarious, haha.

Do I really want to watch the series now? No.
Would I see the movie again? Yes.
If there was sequel would I catch it at the theater? Yes.

The outtakes were hilarious

did you see us argue?
no
TRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

^ you do realize that the movie is essentially a 2hr episode of the series.

it makes no sense to want to see the movie again, but not want to see the series.

Best Buy had a Special of $10 off when you buy a BSG season, just you know, if you're so inclined.

^^Because I thought the movie was good, but not so spectacular that I wanted to watch the one, what, 14 episode season of it?

I said I'd watch it again, not 14 times though.

not so much the movie as i think we all care about the series

because honestly, it might be one of the best shows to have ever aired on television

it's just that good

because some are less nerdy than others and waited for the dvd release.

^^ it still doesnt make sense. you obviously liked it enough to want to see these characters do the same shit over again. You also liked it enough to see them do different shit in a sequel. There are 13 prequels out there that will let you appreciate the movie more and give you more of what you liked in the movie.

I just rented this, and I must say that this was a really solid movie. I enjoyed it a lot, and am thinking about buying it or having someone burn it for me (*hint*).

Story was solid, moved really well, I liked all the characters, and basically would recommend it to anyone who likes action movies, a must for sci-fi'ers

most of the people 'round these parts are hardcore firefly fans and want the movies/series to do well. that means we want people to vote with their dollars and actually buy the stuff

I just saw this movie and did not even know this was ever a TV series. What a great movie. I haven't read the rest of the thread so maybe this was already brought up, but after going back and watching all the episodes this has reaffirmed my belief that Fox has no clue on how to either market their shows or get compelling research that proves great series like this one need to continue to stay on the air.

While I do not have a TV now, I did when Firefly was on the air and I do not recall one segment or one commercial to promote this show. If done right I might have actually tuned in to give it a chance. It amazes me that Fox is now going back to revive cancelled series like Family Guy and now possibly Futurama while still on the verge on canceling another great series in Arrested Development. Because nothing really changed about these shows after there death, it was just that DVD sales and other networks did a better job at reaching their target audience. Why couldn’t Fox do that when they were originally on the air?

It’s rare for me to go around and speak great things like a series such as this but it seems as if a show likes this needs a grassroots movement to help spread the word about how captivating it truly is.

Its a must for non-scifi'ers too. Thats one thing that was so great about the series (and to a lesser extent, the movie). While it took place in a sci-fi setting, there really wasnt anything sci-fi about it. There wasnt a bunch of technobabble, or plot lines involving elaborate governments and alien races. it was about a bunch of people trying to get by in life, find work, and just survive in a world where the cards are stacked against them. It involved simple, every day probelms that everyone in our time can easily relate to. If anything, it was more a "western" in concept than sci-fi

^ that is why I like the movie. While I am a Star Wars fan and have watched several episodes of Star Trek I never got that feeling that I was watching a Sci-Fi show. This is why I believe the series failed is because it was poorly marketed and probably portrayed as another Sci-Fi show that would therefore appeal to that type of audience.

I never watched any of the Buffy shows but I did remember seeing Titan A.E. and enjoying that movie. Joss Whedon is definitely a talented writer and has the ability to create stories that appeal to a variety of audiences.

I was gonna rent this movie to watch with my mom. However, she doesn't like movies that are even remotely scary.

Will this movie give my mommy nightmares?

I rented this the other day and watched it. I thought it was pretty good. I knew it was from some tv series but i didn't know it was the same actors in both the tv series and the movie. That surprised me. So i watched an episode of firefly and thought it was just as good as the movie. But i guess i'd like to start from the beginning. Maybe catch it when another marathon is on sci fi again.

I haven't seen it yet, and I intentionally have read none of the posts in this thread, but after watching all that was made of Firefly, I'm looking forward to finally seeing this movie, perhaps later on today.

The movie, and series, were both easy to get into. Even though i am a nerd, and love tech in movies, the western in space type they went with for these worked ev en vetter, as it has enough tech to keep me happy, and enough emotion and everyday stuff to let more or less anyone get into the series enough to get adicted.

Ok guys I saw this movie a couple weeks ago. Granted, I've never seen the show...

But intergalactic zombies? Super smart telepathic girl being hunted for her abilities? Seems like a lame blend of a SciFi channel B movie and something like 5th Element
