my point is ever since itunes came out on Mac, I stopped using anything else and windows and only used my Mac to listen to music. The windows release just enhanced all that so i can use it across my network.

page 3 loves apple!

Well, I'm glad somebody found it funny, because I'm still confused as hell about wtf he is talking about.

the Iriver USB was twice as much as the shuffle. Also, wtf are you talking about with no forward/backward button? It has forward, back, shuffle, non-shuffle, volume up and down, play and pause. When i'm running, lifting, mountain biking, or skiing, why the hell am I going to look at a screen?

It's actually pretty easy. It mounts as a flash drive in windows, and you can drag and drop files onto it.

You can drag and drop files but on my friends Ipod you couldn't listen to any of them. It just showed up as generic files. This may have changed for the latest revision but he had to download an OMGHAX program to transfer music to his Ipod.

I know that normal drag and drop doesn't work on the full-size iPods, but I wasn't 100% about Shuffles, so I didn't comment. But I'm pretty sure that dnd won't show the files as playable files.

why would apple enable simple drag and drop

It's kinda their strategy to get more people to use iTMS

Don't you think?

iTunes is free and easy to use so why not use it? I've always used it and really like it.

Why should you have to when virtually every MP3 CD player for the past god knows how many years has been able to say "OH HEY, THIS FOLDER IS NEXT ALPHABETICALLY, LET ME PLAY IT FOR YOU" after having files dropped onto it.

^^the fact that it comes with windows doesn't mean shit. if its free and easy to download it doesn't have to come with anything. I like the way itunes looks, feels and functions. Streaming music across the network is simple too,

the simple fact is this:

if you have a cd player, you're cheap.
if you have an ipod, you're cool.
if you have any other mp3 player, you're cheap, and want to be cool. unless you can justify why your mp3 player is better than an ipod -- then you're just an arrogant technocrat

Ok look. You can argue the Ipod as a competent MP3 player but Itunes fucking sucks. Its a memory hog, doesn't look too nifty, "rebuffers" all the damn time when streaming music, AND associates itself with every music on your hard drive. Thats the reason I bought an IRiver in the first place: So I don't have the dependancy of iTunes.

There's a cool 3rd party app that enables drag n drop for the iPod.

Most Windows users I know though love iTunes.

See I knew somebody was going to say something stupid like "well I have more then 512 megs of ram" as if it justifies shitty coding. I like efficiency over fluff, especially when iTunes doesn't match any native Windows environment well anyway.

umm dude

I have seen you a zillion times in your metrosexual hairdo toting your ipod around like it is the key to Monica Lewinsky's bedroom. And if you are really a techo-connoisseur you know that those white headphones aren't meant for music listening.

it matches my windows enviorment just fine actually. and my point is i don't care how much memory it uses, 50mb or less is what it uses on my machine which is nothing. Face it, it looks better than winamp, functions better than winamp, and doesn't fuck up your computer like winamp. Hell i'd rather use WMP than winamp.

WMP is still superior.

Because it comes with windows, and I don't have to deal with registering with apple's faggotry (Woodfoot)

and yes, I use IE, because it does everything I need, and does it well.

Waaaaaaaaaay back in the day, there used to be two Apple keys on their keyboard: an Open-Apple on the left side and a Closed-Apple on the right side.
Now it's generally known as the Command key, and the Apple logo on it is pretty much just a throwback. They're both Open-Apples now as both Command keys have the same effect.

Quote :
"i'm used to little things like ctrl-c and v and such...it's like using another language"

Apple invented that language. Microsoft did their best to copy it.

But I get a little tripped up every now and then when I work on Windows all day, go home to my Mac and use my pinky instead of my thumb and end up hitting Control, and then work on Unix the next day and end up hitting Caps Lock every time I want to use Control....
Whatever ---- it's not that big of an issue. Except when I use Windows and accidentally hit the fucking Windows button that pops up the start menu. Fuck I hate that. Completely takes the focus off of what I was doing and trips the workflow. The damn Alt key highlighting the menu bar is almost as annoying and distracting.

My iTunes has been running for about 3 days and is taking up a whopping 23.1MB of RAM.

Looks fine to me. Clean, logical, and without much fluff.

My radio usually runs fine without rebuffering. Did you change the setting for buffer size in the Preferences?

I have plenty of audio files on my hard drive that are not associated with iTunes.

thats what you get when you "next next next finish" on install.

i always check what sound files should be assiociated with what programs on install.

^yeah whats with the registring? only thing you have to register is when you purchase songs and thats because they need a credit card to pay for it unless he's talking about downloading itunes where they ask for an email and even that is optional. so long as you uncheck the mailing list stuff you don't need an email address to download it.

Honestly I don't care who uses iTunes. I've used everything under the sun and determined that windows media player classic and mplayer are the best choices for me.

I'm done with this thread. Peace.
