damn, someone else made a deer joke.
btw the way Excoriator, your a faggot for takin stuff out of context. If you read the whole post and could comprehend it. then you would realize that it would be when I'm riding at night, no cars on the road, the stop light sensors don't pick up bikes and I'll end up waiting 5 mins for the thing to cycle through.
Now all these new systems that they put in are smart computer systems that suppose to cycle through the lights for more effient traffic flow. If the sensors don't pick up anything in a turn lane, then it won't give a green light for a turn lane. I can tell you that I've been stuck in traffic many times and I'll be the only one in the turn lane. The damn lights would cycle 3 or 4 times till I figure out that its never gonna turn green for me until a car gets in my turn lane. I'll end up going going through the red light when its clear or go straight and make a u-turn.
There's only a few sensors in wake co. thats sensitive enough to pick up bikes and that'll be a great thing all around, but again that costs money and no one cares for bikes except bikers.12/7/2005 10:51:02 AM |

The 2 lights on centennial prkwy to turn left onto campus never pick up my bike. I just make a stop, check to see if there's a car behind me getting into the turn lane, and go through the light if not. I'd say about 1/3 of lights that I normally encounter give me trouble. 12/7/2005 11:51:55 AM |

theres a device you can buy to solve that, its a magnet that attaches to trip the sensors.

i hate western ave. cause those left turn lights never pick up bikes going into campus. If no cars are in the turn lanes, I end up going all the way down to pullen and then make a big U going from east to west campus. 12/7/2005 2:00:01 PM |

The worst is when you pull up forward of the line so that the car behind you can move up and trip the light and they just sit there like a dumbass. I always come up Hillsborough now because Dan Allen sucks, so I don't deal with those lights anymore. 12/7/2005 7:22:44 PM |

yea light triggers have nothing do with weight.
that would require the road to move when a car went over it. besides, if weight did trigger it, i'm sure they wouldnt design it so that a bike couldnt trigger it.

i'm almost positive that some of them are weight triggered (although i think the vast majority have inductors that detect ferrous metal). all they'd have to do would be install strain gauges in the road to generate a signal. it wouldn't have to move any significant amount.12/9/2005 5:24:20 PM |
