^ wasn't the point that most of the western world was turning into a shithole, but england sold it's soul so to speak and traded poverty/collapse for fascism? Doesn't seem like too much of a stretch that a major nation could implode in a relatively short amount of time. 3/20/2006 9:45:09 AM |

I was referring to the fact that a nation with tremendous natural resources is far less likely to become poverty stricken in 20 years (as oposed to a tiny island nation with nothing but coal and potatoes)................ it wasn't really a comment as to the movie's (or comics) plot.
and yes, it does seem highly unlikely that the US would fall apart in 20 years. But of course it was just a movie and none of this really matters. If anyone goes and sees it, they should just take it at that.
overall 7.5/10 in my book. 3/20/2006 11:46:07 AM |

I avoided the hell out of the book so that I could enjoy the movie. And I did. Now I want to read the book, because the movie's ending left me a little flat for reasons I can't quite explain. 3/20/2006 2:40:52 PM |

Good film, but don't go into it expecting a tremendous amount of action like I did (all that Wachowski brothers hype), it's actually a pretty slow movie. Worth 5.50 though.

Yeah, I really liked this movie. I liked it that they went with a character and source material that were fairly significant deviations form the super-hero norm. 3/21/2006 2:19:09 AM |

^ thats why these ppl need to learn and take a water bottle full of vodka in and add it to their soda. best way to get fucked up in a movie theater without all the mess and hassle of beer bottles. tho, it does tend to smell REALLY strong to those not drinking it. 3/21/2006 2:36:40 PM |

found the movie extremely confusing and pointless at times
found the v character's persona kind of cheesy
enjoyed the knife fight scene at the end
might have to watch it again before i can say whether i like it or not 3/22/2006 1:05:43 PM |

^I saw it again last night and...
Don't read ahead if you haven't seen it and want to read what might be considered a spoiler!!!!![b]
....the prison scene....I realize that the guy who is questioning her is wearing gloves all the time, and his face is always hidden in the shadow, but not in the scene where he throws her around with the water. And the gloves are see through and don't look like Toxic Avenger's hands, they look normal. Now I know that they have shown that V has great "make-up" skill by fooling the police near the end of the movie, but is he that great with throwing his voice too? he sounds nothing like V when interogating natalie portman's character (except for that last part) ...and she would have been able to see his face in the scene where she is being thrown around..
SO WHAT I'M ASKING IS....
Does anyone who read the comics know if V has other accomplices that you don't really get to see in the movie? I mean, does he just have a pet rat that he keeps in the cells? Does he feed this rat too? Or does anyone have their own ideas on how he made the prison scenes work for him? 3/23/2006 1:29:06 PM |
b_radd Veteran 275 Posts user info edit post |

1. if you didn't know that was V simply by the way they were lighting the interrogations/tortures, i feel sorry for you
2. his voice probably sounds different because it wasn't coming from behind a mask
3. dude is deep in vaudevillian shit, he probably is a masterful ventriloquist 3/23/2006 2:21:51 PM |

actually, dell doesnt need the US for shit. while their computers are thrown together and shipped in the US, all the parts (the real labor) are made over-seas.
