I've noticed that there seem to be more white posers in the north as well.

I have definitely ecnountered this before. I wouldn't say that they go out of their way to point out how tolerant they are; I think, more often, they go out of their way to point out how backwards and intolerant we are.

Furthermore, in the RTP area, I've noticed that some Northerners bring their money down here (where it's worth a lot more), buy big houses in nice neighborhoods, and then get all pissed off when they discover that their McMansion hasn't gauranteed them a "neighborhood" (all white) school. Southerners are used to integration (artificial).

of course.

As stated, I don't know the "why", but I have some guesses based on my research and observations.

education:
Shitty schools in predominantly black neighborhoods
A cultural emphasis on athletics over academics
educational class stagnancy (ie most people end up with similar education levels to their parents)
distractions (gangs and drugs) in low-income neighborhoods
IQ (I hesitated to put this one in here, but as an objectivist I cannot ignore this factor)

incarceration rates:
driven by poverty
higher testosterone levels (see IQ)
lower education levels
justice system slanted against the poor and minorities



I'm sure there are more reasons, but those are the ones I think of off the top of my head
