I think most of us agree that Sendek is going to be coach for awhile regardless of what we all say.

So the following needs to happen:

If you do not support Sendek as head coach, stop going to basketball games. Stop buying season tickets. If their attendance falls to reduce the profit of the program, only then would a change get done.

Simple as that. And it's the only way the message would get through to Lee Fowler.


Note: I don't call for Sendek's ouster although I think he should really do better.

If you bothered to read the Viewpoint page, you will notice it says at the bottom "The unsigned editorial that appears above is the opinion of the members of Technician's editorial board exculding the news department and is the responsibility of the editor in chief." However, in this case, it also excludes the sports department due to conflict of interest. So no member of the sports department had any input on this. It also does not matter what individual wrote the editorial. The editorial is the opinion of the editorial board listed at the bottom of the page, and it is just that. It is not an article. It is an opinion -- hence the placement on the "Viewpoint" page.

if i was an outsider looking in on our whole basketball situation, i would be rooting for herb to win the national championship this year, quit, and then have nc state basketball turn into such a joke that the fans start begging for herb to come back.

the wolfpack fan in me, of course, doesnt want this to happen (well other then the national championship), but im really embarassed by the complete lack of class and common sense that so many of our "fans" seem to have.

theres not wrong with wanting herb gone, but there is a right and a wrong way to go about bringing change. unfortunately, many of our "fans" cant grasp this concept, and end up making our school look like a joke.

I didn't read this whole thread, so forgive me if this is a repeat of something, but Jackleg mentioned how state students/alum are jealous because we don't have the same rivalry as Duke and UNC. That is SO off the mark.

Back in the day, THE rivalry was State vs. Carolina. Those 2 games were the reason to breathe around these parts. The UNC/Duke stuff has always been around, but it was more football back in the day. It's really only been since K got there that the basketball rivalry took off. It just happens that the rise of K and Duke has coincided with the utter demise of NCSU (robinson/sendek).

If State could get a marquee, passionate coach there is NO REASON they can't compete immediately. Everyone saying it would be 5 years of losing is retarded. The only reason you Herb supporters are so quick to accept mediocrity is because I honestly believe you just don't remember how good it can (and SHOULD!) be.
