we get basic cable with the apartment, but with RR, HD-DVR, hd suite, and the digipic 4000 it only comes out to be $69. Ron gave us one hell of a deal

none of this shit is available if you already have a pre-existing Time Warner Cable account.

I just called a few days ago. Its only for new TWC subscribers.

Fucking sucks, because most are already on with them.

which extras should i expect to get when we sign to a new contract? (most likely TWC)

Im hoping they will offer stuff like (dvr, multiple cable boxes, free installation)

anything else to ask about?

ask them for the "special student package" with all the extra free stuff.

they'll act like they don't know what you're talking about at first, because they're not supposed to give it to you without a reference code.

but if you keep asking, and don't take 'no' for an answer, they will have to give in, and will totally hook you up.

When you all got better deals at time warner after already being a subscriber, did you just ask them to lower the price and threaten to leave? Did any of the reps ever refuse? I thought about cancelling and then signing up again, but I figure they tie your name to the account and you would have to pay fees. I'm gonna be moving apartments soon. Any tips would be appreciated.

As a followup, I had very little luck with the sales people. It became clear that after 30 days from disconnecting I could apply for a new installation and new promos.

Then, I called and specifically asked for the retention office and asked if I was applicable for any promos because my current bill was too high. They knocked off 18 bucks with no fuss.

I believe the woman's name is Pam, but she should still give you the same deal. I was lucky enough to call Ron on his last day, and got a pretty good deal: Digipic 1000 with DVR, HBO, and wireless RR for $85/month plus tax, locked in for 12 months. When I went through Time Warner directly I was paying $107/month for wireless and standard cable (no box).

i'm getting ready to move into a new house with 3 other guys. we want digipics 1500 (with HBO), dvr, hbo on demand, and roadrunner. all 4 bedrooms will need internet. anybody gotten this setup for a good price? also do you have to pay for internet in each room seperate or is there a way to get around that?

ours is like 92 we have all that minus HBO on demand...so i would think it would be 97 for your set up. as for internet in multiple rooms...it might be pre-wired...if not there is always wireless or you could probably pay them to run cable to each room but i would guess that'd cost you a good bit. wireless would be your best bet

^ you get all that stuff for 92 a month? did you get a promo or just talk it down or what? cuz it's like 140 for that stuff (with on demand) from ordering it regular.

i think its $91 before taxes and stuff, the total comes out to 96 and change. i set up "new service", but really we just changed the stuff from my landlord's name to my name. i think ron said it would have been 127ish before the discount...and our rate is locked in for 12 months.

is it standard practice for TW to ask for your social security number when signing up for a new service?

I hate giving it out, especially over the phone

yes.

interestingly enough...i had a problem with this. some guy started up cable in his name with my social security number 12 years ago. he didn't pay the balance of his bill when he cancelled the service and when i started up cable 2 months ago they told me i owed $371.38. of course i didn't owe the money from 12 years ago, i was 11 at the time. so they are making me jump through some hoops to get the crap off of my name. annoying.

you would think they would have to compare your SS# to your name to be sure they matched, but apparently not...

I received a job offer from TWC and the biggest perk was the digital cable, phone, dvr, roadrunner, premium movie channel package all for FREE. I think they valued the package at $3500 a year. Too bad i didnt take it.

^^^^^i'm not buying that package being a $3500/year value. that would mean monthly service fees for said services would be ~290...

if you ever have a billing problem...the people that work at the TWCNC billing department are complete idiots. 2 of the 4 people are talked to were totally and completely inept. one of them kept saying "pro-rate amount" over and over again and the other one's buzzterm was "partial month charges". 1 of the 4 was pretty bad, she claimed she was gonna fix my bill, but failed to do so. the final one i dealt with actually got it fixed and was a competent employee, i guess 1 out of 4 isn't bad?

does this really work? do you think it would work if you already have cable service and want to get a better rate? we are paying like $98 right now and it will only be that way for another month, then it goes up to like $110.
