this was the first semester they offered the class, and technically it was listed as an independent study class (that's what the 491 stands for). the professor is trying to make it a formal class that will be offered at least once a year. But it's only been taught once or so before, and not by this professor. So, going into it, there wasn't much of a plan to it.
