Lamar Odom has played all-star basketball for the past few year.

He was also on the fucking Olympic Team.

Like I said in a different thread....

If the Lakers didnt have Kobe this year, they fall from the 8th seed in the West and dont make the playoffs.

If Lebron is on the Cavs, they go from the 4th seed in the East to Arguable the worst team in the East or NBA for that matter.

Lebron's intangibles, such as making his teammates better, is what makes him a more valuable player than Kobe. Kobe is more gifted, but Lebron is the better player.

Even Kobe saw that Lebron got his team past the 1st round by playing unselfish basketball, but it wasnt and isnt Kobe's game. He knew that and tried to prove it by only taking 3 shots in the second half of game 7...in that blowout of a game.

Lebron isnt even near as good a jump shooter so how you could say he is a better offensive player is beyond me (yeah ok they can both drive the lane and get fouled).

Kobe Bryant , LAL
80 41.0 35.4 12.2-27.2 .450 2.2-6.5 .347 8.7-10.2 .850
2
Allen Iverson , PHI
72 43.1 33.0 11.3-25.3 .447 1.0-3.1 .323 9.4-11.5 .814
3
LeBron James , CLE
79 42.5 31.4 11.1-23.1 .480

it prolly wont show up right on the table, but lebron averaged 4 less points, shot 4 less shots, and had a higher FG% than kobe, i'd take lebron as the better scorer, statistically speaking

*Granted, one could take the arugement of the quality of Western Conf. vs East, but stats dont lie much

They don't lie but they don't tell you everything either.

The Cav's are not loaded with talent by any means but they clearly are much better off than the Lakers... Kobe has a tougher job.

If he could find a way to confidently get his teammates involved but know when to take over the game, he would hands down be the best on Earth.

There is a fine line in this whole balance.

With Kobe, if the game is on the line, he is taking the shot. I know this argument is tough considering that unreal game vs. Phoenix, but bear with me.

Did you happen to see the last few seconds of game 6 in Cleveland? Lebron brought in all of the defense (but got fouled) but was in the process of kicking the ball to Flip Murray in the corner for the game tying three. Thats some fucking confidence. He never planned on taking that three, but Detroit didnt know that. That is what makes him great...you never know if he is going to shot, or make the great pass...whereas with Kobe, you know he is shooting, you just have to try to stop it. While this method is great for personal achievements, its bad for the morale of the teammates. They arent going to get the ball at crunch time, because Kobe doesnt believe in them. Plain and simple.

This is why I think Lebron is the better player. He makes his teammates not only "better", but makes them viable options on offense (i.e. the pass to Drew Gooden for the game winner in Game 5 in Detroit).

I knew that a comparrison between the two would be inevitable. They both create matchup problems,

great scorers, ones a better defender (kobe) one has more size and presence (Lebron). To me the two

are both equally gifted and talented. This would force me to make my decision based on character/ and

subjective reasoning-

I would have to go with Lebron.

I wonder how Kobe would fair under a different coach than Phil? Is he coachable by any other person?

Phil Jackson has always been overrated (this comes from a lifetime Bulls fan)

he wouldn't have been shit without Tex (and MJ, Shaq/Kobe)

Im not sure about that. I think the East has caught back up.

I mean the Pistons swept what 2 years ago and weren't suppossed to win a game.

I like the winner of Heat/Pistons to take the Finals too.

i cant beleive you gusy are saying cleveland is so bad. yes odem may be better than all of the other cavs players but the cavs have several solid guys. im not sure if gusy like parker george and brown could make some nba rosters.

larry hughes gooden and iggy are all very solid players. 3 solid players is much better 1 really solid player(NOT ALL STAR). eric snow is a great defender and solid veteran varjeo marshall and murray are ALLbetter than the other 3 of the lakers starting 5. also the cavs were playing the PISTONS. of course guys against a pistons d might look bad. the lakers support looked horrible at times against one of the bottom 2 defenses in the playoffs.

yes lebron is much better than kobe or anybody at 21. all im saying is kobe is better now. i dont know if lebron will develop much further outside of expierience. he could be fully developed. to develop a great jumpshot he probobly would have to lose some upperbody strength and thats unlikely because its the strength of his game.

^Some of your posts are just plain terrible. At least get some facts straight.

Who the fuck is odem? I mean you are making arguments and cannot spell their names. Iggy? Ive never heard anyone call him that.

Kwame Brown was the #1 pick and is still only like 21. EVERY team in the league would take this guy. George and Smush would surely make other rosters as well.

^^That post is absolutely horrible. And the only "Iggy" in the NBA is Iguodala, who plays for the 76ers. Ilgauskas plays for the Cavs (nickname "Z").

Not sure those guys could make NBA rosters? I'm sure that's why the Lakers traded Caron Butler and Chucky Atkins for Kwame Brown.

Mind explaining why Lebron would have to give up strength to improve his jumpshot?

haha Kwame Brown is better than Drew Gooden you idiot.

Gooden can barely even get minutes.

The Sonics gave Flip Murray away for nothing. Lets see how many megadeals he gets offered. He was great in the series against Detroit wasn't he.

Game 7 - 2 points, 1-4 FG
Game 6 - 4 points, 2-10 FG
Game 5 - 8 points, 2-10 FG
Game 4 - 7 points, 3-7 FG
Game 3 - 13 points, 4-13 FG
Game 2 - 2 points, 0-4 FG
Game 1 - 0 points, 0-7 FG

5 ppg on 12-55 FG (21.8%) for the series. Man he is really something special!!!

Eric Snow is easily the worst starting PG in the league, so give me a break with that bullshit.

gifted: if you include potential, then yes
athletic: definitely - does anyone remember that play from game 7 where he got the rebound from a Pistons shot, proceeded to pass the ball to a teammate up the floor and then beat everyone to the other end for an alley-oop? Simply amazing speed.
