Someone said something about how they are remarking FFIV ridiculous since they rereleased this game on GBA a couple years ago. I dunno, I'm totally pumped about a remake of FFIV. That game was the game that got me into the FF series and I can't wait to see what they do. I just hope its not a piece of shit as the game itself is phenomenal on the SNES.

^Have you played FFIII for the DS? I've heard it is really hard but graphically looks amazing.

^^ nah, I read mixed reviews on it, but heard the graphics were very good. It turned me off a lot that for the most part the second screen isn't used at all. I've been meaning to at least check it out though.

^^^
What ^ said. It doesnt use the top screen which is kind of goofy. The lack of save pts in dungeons makes it more difficult. I like the graphics, I kinda like the character system however it doesnt really differentiate any of the characters so thats a turn off for me. Its worth a play.

I also checked out "Heroes of Mana"... it looks great. The pathfinding system is terrible though.
Luminous Arc is the game I'm playing now. Its very similar to Ogre Tactics/FF Tactics. The story seems jittery but its still fun and I love the art direction. The controls are kinda goofy sometimes though.

They're the same hardware with different firmware. You can even flash one with the other's firmware (or at least you could, I'm not sure if you still can or not.)

Short answer: They're the same. Buy whatever you can find for cheapest

I used to know of a good one that had all the games but I think the servers have been down for a while.

This forum here has a lot of homebrew (totally legal) and announce upcoming homebrew projects:
http://forum.gbadev.org/viewforum.php?f=23

And of course there is the DS Homebrew Wiki:

ToysRus has a deal going on Tuesday. If you buy Phantom Hourglass (34.99) you get a Prima Stategy guide free with it. (19.99 value)

You can order off their website and get the same deal in case the store runs out.

Release date shows as Oct. 1 for Phantom Hourglass, but most stores say they won't have it until tomorrow. Why the difference, and has anyone gotten a copy today?

That's pretty standard it seems. Game ships on the release date, stores get it the next day.

So Toys R Us is giving away the strategy guide with Phantom Hourglass

Best Buy, on the other hand, isn't including anything with the game. But of course you can buy the guide separately for only 30 bucks

Circuit City has DS's for $119.99 this week ($10 savings) and a free give-away with Zelda (headphones, carrying bag, etc.).

I was completely wrong yesterday.

Target has the DS for $119.99 & Circuit is offering headphones, a large stylus pen, and a green screen wiper with the purchase of Zelda.

Also, Circuit City has DS game cases for sale for $4.99 and I love these things. They protect the games much better than the insert areas on my carrying cases.

I just picked up Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin.

I'm a fan of non-linear sidescrollers.

Hell yeah if you could play Contra co-op over the internet, that would be awesome. If they worked in the DS microphone/headset too, that would be the heat.

you can steal all the ds games, but I think that's pretty shitty.

I use it for homebrew and emulation. I play a lot of NES on it. You can play Doom, Quake, and a bunch of other games.

dealextreme.com has them

just ordered one to replace my M3 Lite the other day. Shipped within 24 hours (but will likely take 1-2 weeks since it's coming from Hong Kong).
