here it is... i have no idea what brand it is. it has a 50cc big bore kit, "free-er" flowing exhaust, bigger pegs, modified carb w/velocity stack, and probably some more tricks. i have the stuff to make a new seat for it, and a spare stock carb, a spare big pocket bike carb w/jet assortment, some reeds (i dont know what exactly thats for) and a timing advance keyway, and some other stuff too i think. package price was $100.

flyby pic
hahahaha. now if i can get it to run consistantly. there are a couple screws on the side of the carb, anyone familiar with them? ill get a pic of what im talking about in a little while. 11/16/2006 8:58:24 PM |
BigBlueRam All American 16852 Posts user info edit post |
they should be a low rpm and high rpm (respectively) a/f adjustment. 11/16/2006 9:25:02 PM |
optmusprimer All American 30318 Posts user info edit post |
yeah that makes sense, hmm
got any idea what the difference in a NGK BM7A and BPM7A spark plugs might be? physically they are slightly different- the BPM protrudes into the cylinder a little further (not far enough to hit the piston)
today i put swapped out the BM7A (old and a little on the dirty side) with the new one i found at ace hardware and it ran ok for a while but started dying on me after riding a minute or two. 11/16/2006 9:41:48 PM |

mine started doing that same shit it was vapor lockin on my there is no hole in the gas cap so i poped lil hole in it and it ran fine i would try that unless urs is diffrent cap on it 11/16/2006 9:43:54 PM |
BigBlueRam All American 16852 Posts user info edit post |
^^you found the difference... length.
your problem def. sounds related to fuel delivery/venting issues like tripleD said. i'd look for vapor lock or air lock as a result of too much heat on the supply line or inadequate venting.
the high/low screws may need some adjusting, but typically if they're that out of whack the thing wouldn't run at all. 11/16/2006 9:55:40 PM |
optmusprimer All American 30318 Posts user info edit post |
well it was a little low on fuel the first time, so i added enough to eliminate that possibility and fired it back up, went for a spin and ended up like this...
ive been playing with carbureted cars a long time and i have a hunch thats where my problem lies. the fact its picky as hell when i try to fire it up compounds this. that and the fact i was fucking around with screw A some today...
I know C is a throttle stop screw, although its a little backwards from what I am used to. A and B are the mystery screws.
ALSO
it says 25:1 on the cap, but the guy i got it from says he was running 38:1 in it. i am running 40:1. does any of this really fucking matter? 11/16/2006 9:59:57 PM |
tripleD4u All American 6247 Posts user info edit post |
man my shit was way thicker 25 to 1 ratio as your prolly should be run yours looks the same as min but i guess it is made in diff sweat shop hahahah
[Edited on November 16, 2006 at 10:06 PM. Reason : you be smokin that motor in no time go back to 25 to 1 ] 11/16/2006 10:02:00 PM |
BigBlueRam All American 16852 Posts user info edit post |
yeah, those are def. high/low mixture screws.
i'm still betting on your issue with it staying running lies elsewhere.
the hard starting and any other driveability issues might be those screws.
the mix isn't a huge deal until you get really crazy. if you run too much 2 stroke oil, you'll just get excessive smoke, some rough running, and maybe a fouled plug. 25:1 isn't a bad mix for a good running broken in motor. i'd keep a little heavier than that until you get the tuning pretty much dialed in.

40 and 50 to one are way to lean for them i would think that is like a sthil chainsaw runs(50to1) these things being made in china i would do 25 to 1 all the time i would think. I would deff wanna foul plug then blow it up the agian i think rebuil kit is like 20 bucks hahaha 11/16/2006 10:39:46 PM |

^^^^ ok fine assclown, for the moment we will assume you are right and that the cutting out problem is a vent/vaporlock issue. although i am gonna come back to that shit in a minute. even though it didnt sporadically cut out on me at all prior to today.
heres the deal. engine cold, choke on (closed), bulb primed, pull a couple times and it fires off and runs for about 1 second. i seem to remember my grandfathers old weedeater doing this as standard procedure so i open the choke and pull it again and it fires up, idles ~ok~ for maybe 20 seconds then gets worse, rpm lowers, and it dies out. wont fire off again unless i close the choke again. when it does fire then it runs a second and cuts off. back to square one.
to get it warmed up enough to ride it i have to play with the choke and keep playing with the throttle and then hurry hurry hurry hop on it real quick before it shits out! and even then, half the time when i do that it dies the first time i hit the throttle to take off. its aggravating as fuck.
anyhow
so there is a vent line or bypass line or something coming off the carb, vents to atmosphere (techical term for hangs under the frame) and squirts when i pump the primer bulb. on my scooter this line goes back to the tank i believe.

kyle it wasnt fast enough before to stay off the sidewalks... BUT IT IS NOW lol
-finished my custom made seat -as per ivan and ryans hint, relocated fuel line (away from exhaust) -finally tuned in the carb -and, although I found some BM7A champion counterparts at home depot today, also found this little tidbit:
Quote : | "The NGK BPM7A spark plug is a projector plug which raises compression on your pocketbike to yield more power. The stock plug that comes on the china bike is the main bottleneck on your ignition system." |
