MY THREAD MY WONDERFUL THREAD!!!!!!!!

I was on Youtube the other day looking at some Abu Dahbi submission wrestling bouts, it seems lke everyone has been through that circuit to some extent

there was a match btween Tito Ortiz and Matt Hughes, Tito won it and handled Matt, but tito wasclearly towering and also way heavier...ADCC matches are real borin to an extent cuz its just a long wrestling match lol

Youtube is an amazing source for fights, ive been watchin some RINGS organization bouts and old Pancrase events Pancrase has similar rules to pro wrestling except it is real MMA

FUCK

In addition to Vitor and Nastula...Kevin Randleman is also in trouble over doping

http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=2901&zoneid=13

Quote :
"MMAWeekly has learned that Kevin Randleman has been charged by the Nevada State Athletic Commission with providing a fake urine sample for the drug test that he took after his fight on the Pride card in Las Vegas on October 21st.

If he is found to be guilty of these charges, Randleman could face severe disciplinary measures from the athletic commission, which could include a significant fine, a lengthy suspension, or perhaps even permanent revocation of his fighters' license.

All NSAC-sanctioned organizations, including Pride, are required to honor NSAC suspensions for all of their shows throughout the world if they want to continue to be licensed to run events in Nevada.

In the recent history of unarmed combat drug testing in Nevada, one fighter was previously alleged to have provided a fake urine sample, and that fighter's license was flat-out revoked (as opposed to suspended). That fighter was Sean McCully, who tested positive for marijuana and the anabolic steroid nandrolone in September 2004, and then allegedly provided a fake urine sample when he was re-tested in September 2005."

Quote :
"If it does indeed turn out that the urine sample provided by Randleman did not contain any human hormones, that would mean that it was urine from a dead human or urine from a non-human.

the Vitor one really hurt me, hes my favorite fighter

Not saying that Pride is worse than UFC in terms of roid usage, as it says in the article the UFC tests a lower percentage of their fighters per card than pride did

but this is just bad for MMA with all the hype of the american debut of PRIDE

Certainly not the way that pride wanted to start in having US events.

It really sucks if Randleman will no longer be able to fight for any Organization that fights in the US.

I mean - what does that leave him?

Funny Quote from Brandon Vea regarding Tim Sylvia
Quote :
"MMANews.com: Alright [laughs] so you guys will be okay in the same building (referring to he and Tim)?

Brandon Vera: Oh yeah, this is just business to me I'm not the type to try and pick a fight in a club or something like that.

MMANews.com: Yeah.

Brandon Vera: If I want to do something like that to people, I'll have someone shoot them.

MMANews.com: [laughs] Oh damn [laughs more]

Brandon Vera: I mean business. I don't mess around. Bitch, I make money!

Apparently they bought out World Extreme Cagefighting too

from what ive read Zuffa and the UFC are gonna use these orgs as somewhat of an NBA Development league AND most importantly so they can get multiple TV deals on Multiple channels, including HBO

the orgs are still gonna keep their names and have events under their names, but will get the UFC octagon and stuff

i think its good

RAMPAGE TO THE UFC!

HU..HU..HU..HUUUUUUUUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quote :
"According to Tito ORtiz.Com (HBBB section), Dana White was quoted as saying during the press conference by Zuffa in its acquisition of the WFA that one of the contracts acquired by the UFC was the full contract plus incentives for Quentin Rampage Jackson. White has not set a date as to when UFC fans can expect Quentin Jackson to make his debut in the Octagon.

This isn't a big shock to me, but just love that it's official. Either way you cut it, Jackson is going to have a shot at Chuck/Tito, or both.

Also, it must suck to be TUF LHW winners with all those experienced higher end MMA veterans now flooding the UFC LHW division. Bisping and Forrest are tough, but now he's going to have to consider the fact you got arguably 3 of the worlds top 10 LHW's now in the UFC. And Forrest has to wonder about his chances as well vs. a guy like Jackson.

OMG, this has got to be the greatest early Christmas gift for MMA fans and UFC fans. One organization acquiring smaller ones with buttloads of talent now under one roof in the same cage!

LETS GET IT ON!!!

i saw one a fw months ago, its not really mma its more kickboxing, but there are some VICIOUS knockouts in it....from what i understand is that they fight one round, and then fight another round later in the night after other guys figh a round, it is intersting

they fight in like a concave inset ring with no barrier, like on some of the knocouts i seen, they guy hits the side of the ring and just slides down, its pretty funny to watch

but yo! mma fans dont forget Elite XC comes on this saturday at 10 pm on Showtime Headlined by Frank Shamrock v.s. Renzo Gracie

It's called WCL (World Combat League) and it's owned by Chuck Norris -- or at least they've attached his name to this promotion. Anyway, I've seen a couple of their shows and IMO it's fucking awful! Their biggest problem is that they have a rule that you are not allowed to cirlce or back away from your opponent without throwing. In other words, any time you circle or back up without throwing you get a point deduction, and BOY! are the refs there quick to deduct points. This throws just about any kind of strategy such as counter-punching or getting a good angle before throwing out the window, so every fight looks like two drunks swinging at each other at some dive bar with no strategy whatsoever.

Also, you're right, they fight for one round and then fight another round later that night instead of the classic format of multiple rounds in a row, which throws all of the drama traditionally associated with a fight (e.g. one fighter starts out slow and gets beat up in earlier rounds but comes back and outpoints his opponent later in the fight after his opponent runs out of gas) out the window. Another complaint I have about this league are that the fighters are nowhere near the quality you find in UFC, Pride, K-1, or even boxing on ESPN, let alone boxing title fights. The circle with sloping edges they use instead of the traditional ring if fucking stupid IMO. It also apears that they do their weigh-ins they day of the fights, as when the fighters weights are announced, there are significant (i.e. 5 pounds or greater) differences in weight between lighter fighters. Call me crazy, but I like the UFC style weigh-ins when a fighter weighs in on Tuesday for the following Saturday's fight and cuts 20 pounds, all of which he gains back by the time he actually enters the cage. The bottom line is that after watching a couple of WCL's shows, I lost most of the respect I had for Chuck Norris.

Sorry for the long post.

So who's cro-cop fighting next? They should bring in randleman to "quiet his storm".

I kinda don't like how he's acting in the UFC now. They say he's been cocky all the time (even in pride) but now he acts like he's untouchable/unbeatable.

Some MMA news and notes and my comments on them. Source: http://www.411mania.com/sports/other_sports/50444/The-Tap-Out!-02.06.07.htm

Quote :
"- While Silva won it was shocking at how easy he was to take down. Word has it that Silva actually came into this fight recovering from surgery. Insight courtesy of Joe Rogan on the Underground:

"Anderson Silva had knee surgery on both knees just 11 weeks ago. That was why he was so easy to take down, and that was why he couldn't squeeze 100% when he had Lutter in the triangle. I ran into his manager after the show and he told me the whole deal. His knees were still very sore. Later that night I ran into Anderson in the hotel, and he was limping like he was just double knee barred.

Crazy shit. If Travis ever had a chance, last night was it. Great fight, either way."
"

I posted this mainly because it explains a lot and is an interesting fact, but IMO if Silva was medically cleared to fight and decided not to pull out of this fight the way GSP pulled out of his title fight, he has no excuses. Knee surgery or not, Travis Lutter exposed a weakness in Silva's game, and it's a weakness everyone and their cousin Earl will not exploit. Will see how that plays out for Silva and the UFC middleweight title situation.

Quote :
"- Maybe it's just me, but Cro Cop's really got me wondering about his motivation for coming to the UFC. Between interviews and his Pride theme song, it seems at least plausible to believe Cro Cop is just making a tour through the UFC with the goal of becoming champion to then return to Pride and fight Fedor. There's no concrete evidence for this what so ever, but there are enough small signs that can get the conspiracy theory gears turning. If that somehow turns out to be the case, brilliant move by Pride.

And while we're speaking of Cro Cop, here's a few quotes from an interview he did back in Croatia after the fight via Nova TV.

"I trained hard for this fight, so hard that I felt pain in every part of my body. I injured lower leg, foot cam, and I had big problems with my cranks. All this deconcecrate me. I must admit that in one moment I was thinking about canceling the fight versus Sanchez."

Regarding the octagon: "The cage is big and opponent can run as much as he wants. Beside that, nice experience. Rules are different and public is louder which is not a bad thing."

Regarding the UFC's rules: "To be honest I remembered in last moment when I overturn him to the ground that I must not hit him with knees"
"

No comment, just an interesting snippet.

Quote :
"- The IFL announced on February 1 a new TV deal. The highlights:

"… the new IFL program will debut on over-the-air broadcast television on March 13 on MyNetworkTV, and will be known as "International Fight League's Total Impact." The program will air on 22 Mondays from 8-10 p.m. local time on all of MNTV's affiliates, which reach more than 95% of U.S. television homes."

"IFL cameras will cover the stories of each of the athletes both in and out of the ring, bringing fans all of the event and behind the scenes action. Segments will take viewers up close during the competition and also into the locker rooms, training routines, and home lives of this diverse set of athletes who are a part of the world's fastest growing professional and recreational sport."

You can find what station will be carrying the IFL programming here.
"

For those of you who don't know, MyNetworkTV is FOX's flowery way of saying "your local FOX affiliate." As a big fan of IFL I am very happy about this. IFL will now be an at a regularly scheduled time instead of random times like it was on FSN (if I didn't have a DVR, I'd never be able to keep up with IFL), and the fact that it's gonna be a 2 hour show instead of 1 hour like it was on FSN means that they'll show all the fights in their entirety. If you've never watched IFL, I HIGHLY recommend that you start in March. They have great fights, and you get to see big name MMA fighters like Matt Lindland, Jeremy Horn, Renzo Gracie, etc, fight in the same shows as talented young up-and-comers with the potential to make it to UFC or Pride (some already have). And the team fighting concept is fresh and innovative and adds even more excitement to their shows.

I dislike arrogant douchebags as much as you do, but to be fair Cro Cop IS untouchable/unbeatable in UFC. I don't see Sylvia, Arlovski, or Vera coming anywhere close to beating him, and if those 3 can't beat him, no other heavyweight currently in UFC can reasonably hope to make it into the 2nd round with him.

I think Arlovski has got a chance, but a few points

1.) he has to find a way to penetrate the kicks and get in close, but keep it standing up. I think Arlovski has the power to KO Cro Cop but the problem is...

2.) Avoid getting nailed with a kick to the dome exploiting his seemingly weak chin that has been exposed by Sylvia.

^ You are making it sound like Cro Cop's left high kick is his only KO weapon, but it's not. If Arlovski gets close, Cro Cop can
a) hit him with punches on the inside, and he's got good uppercuts
b) back paddle or circle his way back to creating good distance

The bottom line is that if Wanderlei Silva, who is a Muai Thai specialist known for his knees in the clinch got destroyed by Cro Cop, Arlovski, who relies almost exclusively on his punches, certainly won't do shit to him.

im already sick of that fucking excuse, its the new "in" excuse to say "o i did it for an injury"

bullshit, I still have respect for Hermes tho...but this is bullshit if this shit keeps up im not gonna be able to enjoy a fight without worrying about the Athletic Commission reports

sherk can suck one and die, its the utmost manifestation of hypocrisy in his case...i hope the UFC strips him of his title as soon as possible so that it doesnt seem as if they are hesitating...they need to put their foot down NOW

before, dana could careless cuz the positives were in other orgs and he could go "o that doesnt happen here in the UFC" but now shit in one of the biggest title fights of the year with new found expanded coverage of the sport he needs to set his own method of dealin with this, and it needs to be effective and strict

it has to stop here, this hurts bad
