Where the hell are you inferring this Juliette/Ben marriage from? I think we're only now finding out his real name, but I don't think they're married.

I like how the plane is supposed to be at cruising altitude, but at the beginning they show it breaking up at like 1000ft. wtf Oh, and if you remember the episode where the plane parts crash onto the beach, they came from a different direction than was shown tonight. You'd think the LOST people would have realized this seeing as they are so concerned with details. However, this was a solid opener and this season looks like its gonna kick some ass.

I agree about this being a solid opening episode but i was thinking the whole time about ben just testing jack by letting juliette get captured and having jack make some kind of decision.

in the first scene at the book club...the guy she was talking to was named Adam. He was talking about how Ben would never have read the book she chose. 2 different people...2 different names.

Ben = "Henry Gale"

there's no way the makers of Lost would introduce a new character named Ben at the beginning of the episode (the "Ben would never read a book like this" line), and then at the end of the episode have Juliette call "Henry" Ben, without them being the same person.

Ben is obviously the ring leader of the whole "Others" camp. Now whether or not they are the only "Others" on the island, or the most threatening "Others" is the question. I think Ben/Henry are trying to add the original Lost members to their side and battle some other group...but thats just me

^^ could that kid in the cage have been a plant by the Others? He kinda looked like the teenage kid that was supposed to be fixing Juliette's plumbing at the beginning of the episode. Just a theory.

Interesting that this was the first flashback (I think) that didn't have any crossovers... I didn't see any other island characters in Jack's flashback, no sign of the numbers, etc.

My first thought was that he was one of the taillies who got snatched on the first night or two on the island.

But him being an Other plant is also a compelling argument. If he was from the tail of the plane, it's pretty handy that he was locked in there for a month and a half and finally executes his escape an hour after Sawyer arrives.

way to take what I said out of context. I know they introduce new characters, but it was obvious at the beginning of the episode they were emphasizing the name Ben in a way that made him out to be their leader. then at the end of the episode juliette calls "henry" Ben, pretty obvious to me that he's the leader.

he was using sawyer as a decoy, he was probably trying to make his escape while he still could use him as a decoy

i guess he's not coming back though since kate is in his cell

also, juliette seemed to not really like Ben (the way they talked when she came out during the book club and the way she said thanks at the end)

Not to mention that both of the wings snapped off the plane in this episode, but in the Pilot, the right wing is still attached to the fuse. It falls off and almost lands on Claire and Hurley, IIRC.
Several oversights in that scene for a show that is typically very devoted to those trivial details.

Oh well, no biggie.
