Air Force beat a great Texas Tech team tonight for those of you who aren't claiming that was a quality win and a great first test (cough NCSUStinger cough)

Let's get back to the original topic, Duke football.

I think that Duke would be better off if they went to an offensive scheme that relied on a sort of deception, something like the flexbone system that Navy runs. I don't think they would win a championship with this, but they could compete for a while with this sort of scheme. If Duke were to get a quarterback from the high school ranks that could really run this offense and execute all of the fakes that it requires then they could actually win a handful of games every year.

Bottom line, I don't think Roof is the problem, I think the offensive system is the problem (Remember, Roof is a defensive guy).

Paulus is going to get eaten alive when hes having to guard the likes of Lawson and Singletary. He's not creating anything off the dribble either on offense.

I'm glad we've got the defensive end going great. I'm confident the offense will come around.

very much a sign of this team playing to the level of its competition. they got to find a way to open up the offense some.

Holy cross is not a bad team. Definately the type of team that has been beating powerhouses all season. See: oral roberts and Gonzaga.

Oh yeah, and the multiple Sweet 16s and Elite 8s and handful of players they put into the NBA the last decade. Holy Cross is a fringe Top 100 team with a chance to win the Patriot League this year.. nothing more. Duke is in a world of trouble when they play good, athletic teams if the offense doesn't wake up.

You can talk about the great defense all you want but when they play a team that has an athletic guard tandem they are going to be in a lot of trouble unless McBob and Paulus decide to start playing like McD's AAs on the offensive side...

Anybody hear about Boykin? He got mono and went back home to LA to "recover" and this week he called coach k and said he's not coming back. I know he wasn't going to get any playing time but the way he did it just seemed like a baby move to me.

"DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke's inexperienced front court just got even younger.

Duke announced Friday that sophomore power forward Jamal Boykin has decided to leave the school.

Boykin, 19, came down with mononucleosis in late November and has missed the Blue Devils' last six games. The 6-foot-7 forward played in Duke's first three contests this season, averaging 1.3 points and 4.0 rebounds.

"Jamal is a great young man, and we wish him the best in his future," Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "We're friends and we totally support him through his illness, his impending transfer and whatever family concerns he has."

Boykin will leave a Duke front line comprised entirely of sophomores and freshmen. Sophomores Josh McRoberts and David McClure and freshmen Lance Thomas and Brian Zoubek have seen the majority of the playing time up front.

his mother is really sick back home, he realized he is not going to see much playing time if he stayed around, especially with the incoming class for next year. And, if he leaves, he can redshirt this year, go ahead and start school near home, and be playing by mid-season next year. There was basically no reason for him to stay.

nelson wasn't a better qb...paulus was the #1 qb and #1 pg in the country

nelson was all-state and all-america his senior year

paulus on the other hand,

Quote :
"was heavily recruited by the nation’s top football programs as well ... a four-time all-state, All-CNY and all-league selection as a quarterback ... held six New York state records, including career passing yards (11,763) ... had 152 passing touchdowns in 45 career games ... led CBA to a 42-3 four-year record, including a 13-0 mark and the NYSPHAA Class AA championship as a senior ... named the 2004 Gatorade National Football Player of the Year ... collected All-America honors from U.S. Army, Parade and Student Sports ... second team All-USA Today selection in 2004 ... starting quarterback for the East squad in the U.S. Army All-America game ... New York Class AA and CNY Player of the Year as a senior ... named MVP of the Class AA Championship game ... named the National High School Coaches Association senior athlete of the year."

don't believe everything an announcer tells you, but i've never heard anyone say nelson was a better qb than paulus (it's a moot point anyway, but paulus is > )
