Novicane, to your question in the other thread - the buyer usually has 7 days to pay for the item, then after that you can file a dispute. Under "My eBay", where you will find the auction for your item you will find "Report an Unpaid Item" on the Action bar (also where you leave feedback) - you should find the rest from there 5/10/2007 2:11:08 PM |

Hey guys, I had a member with NO FEEDBACK purchase my item at the Buy It Now price... They already made payment via paypal. Should I wait until I have the $$$ cashed out of Paypal (prob on Thursday) into my checking account or am I protected to go ahead and ship it on Monday?
Address is confirmed, but the buyer is unverified
From what I've read so far I believe the confirmed addres is more important.
But they've been a member since 2002 with no activity

I'd just wait... it's probably not going to be a problem but I got screwed on something like that before. You can confirm any address with a prepaid credit card if you know what you're doing, btw 7/21/2007 1:47:50 PM |

Well how could they get that money back? I mean if they deposit it into my account, I send out the item, then under what circumstances could they take it back? 7/21/2007 5:42:27 PM |

^also with a confirmed address it should have seller protection for me to keep from chargebacks and such.... So I don't think I'll have any probs. I actually did find the buyer on the internet, apparently a realtor in TX, I may call the listed number on Monday to verify... and creep her out I guess. 7/21/2007 6:07:18 PM |

they just put your paypal account in the negatives..its VERY VERY rare that theyll actually take it out of your bank account or anything like that.

yeah they put you in the negative. if you switch accounts you cant use that same bank account or card again (if im not mistaken). they could always send it to collections as well if it was anything substantial. 7/21/2007 6:54:20 PM |

just ship it. If it's a confirmed address, you're covered. period.
REMEMBER, if it's worth over $250, make it SIGNATURE REQUIRED or you forfeit your seller protection coverage. 7/21/2007 7:09:46 PM |

who is 'they'? PayPal?
If you cover all your bases, they can't deny you coverage.

you only need signature if you will be asking for a reimbursement of $250 or more. So in this case, no.

Got this today.
I won the phone on 10/27; paid 10/28.
Since the listing wasn't showing under My Ebay as early as Friday, I looked to my paypal invoice to contact him, and emailed him on Saturday, asking when he had shipped the item. He got back with me today with a tracking number. Right now, it's showing nothing, but if he just shipped it today that's not problematic.
I figure if I don't have the phone by Friday, I'm going through paypal/my CC for a refund.
...I'm not quite sure why ebay is saying there's a problem now. As of yet, I haven't said anything to the seller about this.11/5/2007 2:24:38 PM |

it's probably fake. I got an email like that telling me my account had been suspended. But I still had full access to ebay. I also emailed ebay to ask them what was up, sending them a copy of the email I had received. Ebay authorities said the email was a fake and that my account had been suspended. 11/5/2007 3:23:12 PM |

So I sold my old iPhone a couple days ago for ~$500 on ebay. In the auction options I said only people from Europe, Canada and the US could bid.
Problem is some guy from Russia won it I need to see how exactly he was able to bid on it in the first place and see about getting the auction invalidated...
Anyone ever had to deal with something like this? 8/6/2008 9:13:07 AM |

more details...
I listed an iPhone through Turbo Lister, and in the options I selected only ship to US, Canada and Europe, and it was supposed to block bids from people not in those countries. How did someone from Russia win my item???
It also states in capital bold letters that I only ship to those countries. It also states that I require Paypal payment within 24 hours of the auction close...and its been closer to 48 hours and no payment. The seller sent me an email and said something about an "express payment," but this obviously isn't the paypal payment that I required.
1) What should I do in this situation? Second Chance offer to someone else? How to not get charged two final value fees?
2) How can I avoid this happening in the future? Require immediate paypal payment for starters? How in the heck did this guy in Russia win? 8/6/2008 11:14:42 PM |

If you bitch enough to eBay they will drop the final value fee. It's a pain though. Their support folks are some of the biggest bunch of losers you will deal with. Expect to ask them to refund the final value fee and receive a response that is nothing more than a link to their "FAQ" page. Repeat about three times, blast them in their customer service survey, keep riding them, and you'll eventually get your money back.
I ended up eating the costs and signing the last fucker that did this to me (some bastard in Taiwan) up for a bunch of spam.

WTF you can't dispute negative feedback? I listed a dvd recorder and took it out of the box to show all the cables were there. I took a picture of it OUT OF THE BOX.
Negative feedback was "Box was opened and USB cord was missing"
The description of connections given BY EBAY does not list a USB cord, and I said the box was opened AND took a pic of the recorder out of the box. 8/7/2008 5:29:21 PM |

" I received unfair Feedback. Can I have it removed?
Answer
Note: As of May 19, 2008 sellers cannot leave negative Feedback for their buyers. In addition, Mutual Feedback withdrawal retires on this date. Learn more about these changes.
eBay will only remove Feedback ratings and comments in very limited circumstances. These are listed in our Feedback Abuse and Removal policy.
You can add a response to the Feedback.
Most of the time, when members you've never dealt with are deciding whether to trade with you, they'll read the negative and neutral comments in your Feedback Profile. Retaliatory and unfair Feedback tends to be easy to spot, especially if most of your Feedback is positive.
By adding a polite and honest response you enable other members to judge the situation themselves."
The short answer is yes. It's difficult sometimes to get it changed, so you're going to have to present your own case.

I'm dealing with a person who seems kindof sketchy right now. Background info: - I'm selling some weight machine parts on eBay. - The "high bidder" on one of my auctions e-mails me on Monday and asks if I'll take $50 + shipping to end the auction now. - Buyer's account was created in January and only has one feedback (positive) which was for another weight machine part. - I tell him I will cancel the auction of he Paypals me the money, but I warn him that I can't ship until Friday at the earliest. - Buyer has sent several e-mails telling me he hasn't had time to transfer the money. Today I get an e-mail saying "I apologize for the inconvenience. I have not had the chance to do the transfer yet. I will take care of it on Friday, and we can do the transaction then. I hope you understand.Thank you very much." - Buyer's e-mail shows up as "David _____" in my inbox, but he signs the e-mails "Omar"
I'm starting to think his guy has gained access to a legitimate users eBay, Paypal, and eMail accounts. It seems kind of sketchy that I told him I could ship on Friday and he keeps delaying the payment until Friday. Once I ship the item it's out of my hands and I'm worried that I'll get burned.
What do you guys think? What is my liability here? This guy is still the high bidder on my auction, so I have a feeling I am stuck dealing with him whether I cancel the auction early or not.
Edit: Just looked at his profile and he picked up a second positive feedback yesterday for a another piece to one of these weight machines.
The auction ends on Sunday. Right now I'm planning to just e-mail him back and tell him to win the auction if he wants the part. That way I'm covered under eBay's TOS. Hopefully I'll be covered under Paypal's seller protection plan, although the documentation I found online seems pretty fucking vague. I'll have tracking on the package when I ship it via FedEx Ground. I don't know what else I can do to protect myself.

don't ship unless he sends from a verified account w/confirmed address and only ship to confirmed address. use paypal to print the shipping label. personally i'd wait a few days before shipping anyways just to see if anything strange happens.
it's def strange..but you're covered under paypal's protection crap as long as you follow their rules. 3/4/2009 1:09:52 PM |

I forgot to mention that in two of my e-mails I asked if he was Paypal Verified. He ignored the first and then responded that he is Verified. I think I'll update the listing to say "ships only to Paypal Confirmed Address" for this particular auction. If he is Verified then he must have a confirmed address as far as I can tell.

Yeah, I've already e-mailed him and told him that I'd rather just let the auction run it's course. If he had paid me on Monday and was willing to wait until Friday for me to ship I might be a little more trusting, but it seems that he wants a very short time between payment and shipping. To me it just seems like he is concerned that some red flags might be triggered when he sends the payment.
I do get a little bit of comfort from the fact that he has bought two other parts for this particular weight machine in the past month or so, but that's not to say that it isn't still a scam. 3/4/2009 5:10:25 PM |
Skack All American 31140 Posts user info edit post |
So the auction picked up some more bids, but that guy still won.
Then he sent me an e-mail trying to negotiate the price because he found one cheaper on Craigslist. I e-mailed him back stating that items on eBay are not negotiable after the auction ends. He responded that he's not paying. He has two feedbacks, so one negative is going to hurt.
What would you do: A) Leave negative feedback. B) Report user for non-payment. C) Report user for trying to purchase item outside of eBay (a violation of eBay's TOS.) D) Use his e-mail address every time I sign up for a free sample listed on slickdeals.com and spoofee.com over the next 12 months. E) All of the above.
I guess he wasn't a scammer after all. I doubt someone would be so cheap if they were spending someone else's money. I should knew from the start that this wasn't going to go smoothly though.
I know I'll get retaliatory feedback, but my account can afford it right now. I'd still be 99%+ and I can add a comment saying why I received it.

anyone ever sold kinda rare video games before? i have 4 games...wondering if i should put them in a lot or try to sell them individually. if i do a lot i'm wanting like 100 and am affraid somehow it only gets to like 50 and i'm obligated to sell at that price. but it seems like no one ever bids on things unless they start at like $.01 or something. any tips? 9/26/2009 1:40:58 PM |

you can set a reserve price so if that price isn't met, the auction won't go through. so if you want at minimum $75 for example and by auction's end the max bid is $60, the auction will end the item won't be sold. 9/28/2009 9:08:18 AM |

so i bought some RAM on ebay a couple weeks ago and they sent the wrong size. I talked with the seller over email and he acknowledged it was his mistake and said if i sent the item back, he would send the correct item. so first of all, for me to send it back (to California), him process it and then send me the correct part, it's going to be like 4 weeks between the time I paid for it and the time I actually receive the correct item. second of all, i'm not about to pay for shipping when it was his mistake. i tell him as much and he says if i send him a copy of the receipt, he'll reimburse me for shipping. ok so that's fine, but I still don't like the 4 week wait. i suggest he mail me the correct item with a prepaid shipping label with the package and I'll send the wrong item back when I get the correct item. he says he won't do that, but if I pay for the RAM a second time, he'll ship it immediately and when I get it, I can send the wrong RAM back and he'll refund for the first RAM plus the shipping. So that's fine too, but I still don't like that I'm having to front more money to fix his mistake. So now I've opened a paypal dispute hoping that would get him to make some sort of concession.
Any advice? Am I being too demanding? What are my chances if I escalate the paypal dispute to a claim?

The best you can get from a Paypal claim is that you send it back at your expense and they refund your money. Sounds like you're better off sending it back and having him reimburse you for the shipping costs.
