How exactly do you know his leg did not show up ? Punting and kicking field goals are totally different motions and he kicked a kickoff to the endzone which is sort of a similar motion.

Also, if you watch derany before games he nails plenty of 50 yard field goals and almost all his misses from that range are because of wide right or wide left and not distance. He also made a 54 yarder last week and this field goal would have been from the 36 + 10 yard for the end zone + 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage = 51 yard field goal.

we really need a punter. deraney is a great kicker but its hard to adjust to punting. almost all of his punts went striat up into the air last night and the other one went well out of the endzone.

when youre used to kicking it as far as you can and try to put some arc on it iits hard to not kick it strait up.

hes rated as the top kicker in the nation and has the highest % in the ACC of pinning opponents within the 20. the kid can punt, alot better than our other punters, we are gonna miss him next year. last night was a fluke

^we sure had alot of trouble running on fsu last year. when they actually had 3 amazing linebackers instead of one. outside and middle

i also really hated how we wasted our 2nd half timeouts.

about the halftime thing, i guess he wanted to play it safe since we got the ball back anyway after halftime. and wiht the new clock rules it would have been really hard to score with that much time (which we ended up proving we could do lol) hindisght is 20:20 with barbera walters

Today's coaching was God-awful. They wait until there is no time left before they start allowing the offense to do anything. Those bullshit tiptoe run plays up the middle that they kept calling did nothing but waste time. When you're down by 20, running the ball up the middle and throwing short slant passes for a loss aren't going to cut it.

Trestman was hired by Chuck. So it is all ultimately Chuck's fault. Chuck should also have the authority to go up to Trestman and tell him to change up the playcalling.

BTW...I put this game more on the fault of turnovers than coaching. You aren't going to win a lot of games with a -2 turnover differential.

i'm not on the fire chuck bandwagon...but i do think he made a poor clock management move at the end of the game.

he shouldn't have called a timeout on the change of posession...the clock starts at the same time the play clock does, so the max time that could have gone off was 25 seconds. however, using the timeout there caused us to be out of time after 3rd down and we lost 12-15 seconds to spot the ball plus the 25 seconds on the play clock.

of course this didn't cost us the game...but we could have atleast gotten the ball chance back with a chance at a miracle if chuck would have managed the timeouts properly at the end of the game.

I also don't think we should fire chuck but he has got to make the defense stay at home. We have been getting killed by misdirection plays for the last few years and its really dumb. Draw plays and reverses have killed us in the last two weeks.

amato is an insanely horrible coach, I honestly don't see how we could do worse if we got a competent coach. He has very little coaching ability and relies on star talent

I talked to two former ncsu players (now in the nfl) and they both think now and thought then that chuck should go (this is before the MD fiasco and after the WFU one)

This is completely different from the basketball situation.

The media was in love with Herb, and the situation looked as if the fan base ate one of its own, so other coaches were scared away.

In this case, the media says Amato is a joke and firing him would be seen as reasonable.
