definately. i actually recruit for nc state out at high schools in maryland, and from the information i have, it actually looks like its easier to get in nc state if you are out of state. The unc school system tries to have something like 18% of the students be from out of state.....however only about 10% of nc state are from out of state. so there is a push to get more from outside of nc.

Yeah I applied from Northern VA out of HS knowing that NCSU was my sure thing...the only other schools I applied to were VT and Penn State. Got accepted to all 3 but Penn St I would have been on different campus until junior year then could go to State College (main)campus.

Anyway I wanted to get back to NC and always loved the ACC so I went to NCSU.

anyway back to the subject...UNC has snobby tendancies so we hate them.

i was actually worried applying out of state. the only person i knew up in pa that applied had decent gpa/sats (i forget what they were now) and didn't get in. for reference purposes, i also got into psu (state college, speaking of overrated/cocky schools) and purdue, but it was a no brainer, gotta run w/ the pack.
