Are we talking about the same team that tied for the best record in baseball? Surely, not the Cardinals, the worst team to win the World Series.

Stop trolling. No one is posting shit in your Braves thread.

Anyway, I'm excited for Ollie's first start of the year. He is the most important guy in the rotation. We know what Glavine and El Duque can do,I have full confidence Maine can be an above average #3, and Pelfrey will be what a #5 is supposed to be (a body that pitches). Then there is Perez, who can pitch himself out of the rotation by May or be an Ace as a #4. Frankly, I don't see any in between for him. He'll either be in AAA by May or be a dominant 2004 type pitcher. I'm hoping it's the latter.

Anyway, this series isn't all that important as far as the rest of the year but it's always fun when both these teams are good and there are 15,000 Mets fans in Turner...

Hey, how many tickets are left for tonight? I mean it wouldn't be a Braves home opener (or playoff game) if you couldn't walk up 10 minutes before the first pitch and buy a dozen tickets.

Also, what time are they going to be raising the 2006 NL East Division Winning pennant? Is the game going to be delayed at all for it? I'm leaving work at 4 so I'm hoping it will be a bit later..

[Edited on April 6, 2007 at 12:28 PM. Reason : eh, works out better phils are shittier than the braves.. more people to argue with on here atl fans]

that would be an excellent point

...if there were statistical evidence to back it up

in terms of percentage capacity, the mets were ranked 13th last year (the yankees were 7th lol), the braves were 16th

new york has 5x the metro population of atlanta and they still can't sell out

anyways, this is silly

met me in the ted, it's going down

Dropped 2 in ATL this weekend, and they're back on top of the NL east after a year.

Maine's on the mound vs. Hamels and the Phillies.

No big deal. Frankly, I think the Mets outplayed the Braves in that series and the only guy in the pen that looked dominating was Soriano. We just never got the big hit. I didn't see anything that would convince me that the Braves are the better team.. if we pitch half as well as we have been we win the division going away.

Gotta fire up the mlb.tv at work today if I can..

Eh, I guess that's how Perez is going to be. Completely own a pretty good team one day and then pitch like hitting the strike zone is against the rules the next game.

^ ha ha. A-Rod is off to a great start, but Wright is still an awesome player for his age. Wright will be the elite 3B in baseball in a few years (unless Garrett Atkins continues to develop at his rapid pace which would make him and Wright about equal).

Perez's mechanics were jacked up last night. Even the Phillies manager said that. He was falling all over the mound.

Jeter is the third best shortstop in the city for real though. A-Rod is one of the best SS ever and Reyes is clearly the better all around player right now. Not saying Jeter isn't great, because he is a HOFer, but RIGHT NOW he isn't in Reyes' class defensively and Reyes might very well have a better season than Jeter has ever had..

I'm actually not trolling here. I mean it's absurd to say Jeter is a better third baseman than Wright but it's not absurd at all what I'm saying..

^^^ I agree. Reyes is the best SS in baseball right now. A-Rod was a better SS than Jeter when he played SS.

Why? The Mets won Game 3...

Only Yankee fans would bring up rings from 7 years ago to try and prove that Jeter is a better overall player RIGHT NOW than Reyes is. Don't bother bringing up his gold gloves either because everyone knows how much of a joke those are.

As I said, I have tons of respect for Jeter as a leader. He will be in the HOF because of those intangibles. Reyes is simply going to be better this year. Jeter ALREADY has 3 errors and doesn't get to half the balls Reyes does on defense and is the premier baserunner in the sport.

[Edited on April 12, 2007 at 12:30 PM. Reason : ^ see my post. they are all political. jeter is NOT a gg caliber defensive ss.]

Take 2 of 3 and we aren't looking back. All statistics point to the Mets dominating the league again so far this year. The Braves are playing over their heads and winning close ones while the Mets are just plowing people.

Quote :
"The Mets are leading the majors in many categories right now.

Batting Average (.303)

On Base Percentage (.378)

Stolen Bases (tied w/ Twins 16)

Hits (150)

Lowest ERA (2.40)

Least Hits Allowed (84)

Highest Defensive Rating

The Mets are also in the top tier of other categories

Second in Runs Scored (87)

Fourth-lowest WHIP (1.19)

Second-lowest slugging against (.328)

Second-lowest # of errors

Second-lowest Runs Against (38)"

The Mets look unstoppable right now. As a Braves fan, I hope the lack of pitching depth catches up with them. The Braves may be playing over their heads, but the bats have been non-existent and they are bound to hit better so they do have room for improvement.
