Holy shit. He shot the kid through a closed door? That's crazy.

Really sucks for the dog, though. I'd lunge at the bastards too, if they'd just killed my master.

^ Not necessarily, a deputy was in the process of opening the door with a battering ram when the other put at least two rounds through the door. The dog could have easily been inside and attacked when the door was opened.

Yeah, that's what happened.

If were in the family, I'd find some way to punish them for killing the poor dog.

Quote :
"After deputies banged on the door and announced their presence, David said, Strickland came toward the door. He then stepped back into the living room. He and the deputies could see each other through small windows in the door.

One deputy then began striking the door with a battering ram, David told the judge.

Long, who stood behind the deputy with the battering ram, later said he mistakenly thought he heard gunfire, David said. But the sound was only the battering ram, which no other deputies on the team mistook for gunfire.

Long then fired three shots through the closed door, hitting Strickland in the head and in the chest near the right shoulder, David said. The head shot, which passed through Strickland's skull, killed him."

So he could see Strickland well enough to hit him with 2 out of 3 shots - why couldn't he also see that he wasn't rythmically firing with the sound of the battering ram?

Quote :
""The original crime was a violent offense," he said Monday. "We had information from a web site that there were weapons inside the residence. Mr. Strickland was involved in a series of violent assaults. And Mr. Riley was known to always carry a pistol.""

Thats great. I have a concealed carry permit. Does that mean that I am a high risk individual in the eyes of the law?

And all that time eleusis just would not believe a cop would shoot through the door before it was even fully opened.

Quote :
"it wasn't a no-knock warrant. they had to announce themselves first, regardless of whether they took the door down or not. since the dumbass didn't bother to secure a fucking German Shepherd, which you know good and damn well is going to attack intruders when it senses fear in its owner, it's his own damn fault that the dog got shot for doing what natural instinct told him to do."

I'll be sure to secure my dog the next time I get shot through my front door perhaps one second after hearing a battering ram.

http://www.wect.com/global/story.asp?s=5800925

Also, check out this article (Hopefully it isn't old). They knocked, saw him through the glass part of the door, saw him turn (didn't say he ran, just turned), then they hit the door with the ram and immediately opened fire. Didn't give him much time to secure that dog now did it?

You think he was trying to secure the dog when he turned? That's what he was supposed to be doing, remember? So, should they have shot him if he didn't try to secure the dog as well? Also, is it illegal to turn and say, "Um, guys, the police are here?" He could have been doing any of those things.

so many cops are SO FUCKING LAZY. i am so sick and tired of seeing all this internet "evidence" lately. THE INTERNET IS NOT REAL.

its like if the cops went over to some actors house looking for drugs cause he played the part of a dealer in a movie once. some people are so fucking stupid

i wish more people would stand up in court and fight for their rights. internet shit is not real, and lots of judges agree.

^^^did you not have that explained to you when you took the class for your concealed carry permit? most cops freak out when they see that you have one when they stop you for a routine traffic stop. I bet they are 10 times worse when they're trying to serve a warrant.

I'd imagine as an 18 year old kid he didn't know what the fuck to do at that point. I really doubt that he figured he'd be able to hide it from a team of officers raiding his house.

Not to mention, the police know that nobody's going to be able to hide it. So they still wouldn't need to shoot him to prevent that from happening....

^^my dad and I got ready to get a permit for that exact same reason (firearm transport), but after talking to sheriffs and sheriff's deputies in 2 different counties we realized just how bad of an idea that is. Cops go apeshit when they see those pop up on your record, and I'd rather not be approached at gunpoint every time I get pulled over.

i got it after i was pulled over for speeding and had a pistol under my seat.

the cop didn't know it was there or even try to search the car, but i was still freaked out.

different cops react different ways. A friend of mine got one, and said that he got pulled over for running a stop sign shortly after getting it. When he rolled down his window and put his hands out the window saying that he had a concealed carry permit and a loaded handgun in the glovebox, the cop told him to have a nice day and quickly got back in his squad car to leave.

A couple months later something similar happened to that same guy again, and that cop made him get out of the vehicle and sit in the back of the squad car while he wrote a ticket.

[Edited on December 12, 2006 at 12:21 PM. Reason : the second cop approached him with his gun unholstered also.]

i was a little disappointed that they didn't charge the other cops with murder.

this is where you dumbasses are wrong. police can use whatever info they want to figure out things about their suspects.

that said: this kid most likely shouldn't have been shot and there was likely some criminally bad judgement on the part of the cops on the scene.
