obvious? obvious to who??? espn and those who take their hype as gospel? they've said the same shit they're saying about bush, albeit to a slighter lesser degree, in regards to a different player every season. sometimes, they'll go so far as to jerk themselves off over multiple players in the same season. remember how they were trying to crown george mason's ncaa bball tourney team as one of the best ever in basketball history because of their run? remember how they were trying to turn ray rice into the next reggie bush. oh, and that was michael bush got hurt. warrick dunn was supposed to be what they've been trying to prognosticate what reggie bush will be. elisha-fucking-manning was supposed to be a multi-pro bowler and the giants were supposed to win a superbowl (or two) with him already. the national media still thinks duke is a top 5 team, and that mcroberts is the next patrick ewing in the post and larry johnson with the passing. michelle wie was supposed to take the men's tour by storm. charlie weiss and notre dame are supposed to be all-world. poker and bowling are supposed to be sports.

obvious? he hasn't done jack shit to show he'll be an elite running back in the nfl.

well that should end a lot of threads but then all of a sudden Bush will actually have a run for positive yardage and everything he just typed will be completely erased from memory due to Bush making a play he has been supposed to make all season

How does anything there end the thread? It's his opinion. I've said countless times I don't care or listen to ESPN hype. I watch things with my eyes and make decisions. Reggie Bush making defenses look STUPID the last half of the year when he began to get his ankle better made me think it's pretty obvious he is going to be a good pro.

Huh? Mason was a good story but it never went further then that from what I remember. There was no comparison between the truly great teams like. Maybe great cinderella runs a la State or Villanova during their last championships. Ray Rice the next Reggie Bush? Again no go on that. And what about Michael Bush? Of course he got hurt.. in the first game of the year. Is that supposed to mean that Reggie didn't hurt his ankle earlier this year?

Well it's a good thing I didn't say that then. I said he'd be a pretty damn good pro football player. Never mentioned in what capacity and certainly never said elite. Though I do believe he could mature into an elite player.

aside from the 49ers STELLAR DEFENSE which defense did he make stupid all year?

I think one reason why many people dislike Bush is because ESPN and basically all other sports media, as well as most of the sports fans that "know about sports" from just listening to what sports media tells them, do think that Bush is entitled to be elite based on how he outran and juked a bunch of PAC-10 players...you can obviously choose to not get all your ideas from sports media, but if you watch or listen to sports, you will hear all of the hype...and nobody likes to hear a player get too much hype if he's:

a. not on your team
b. doesnt immediately live up to the hype (like Lebron)

Lebron's first game in the NBA he scored 20 something points and had about half a dozen boards and assists...THAT is living up to the hype...not scoring a rushing touchdown until the 2nd half of the season is NOT living up to the hype

I think some of Bush's hype almost reminds me of UNC fans bragging about how good they are or how they are gonna win another title this year...its just shit I dont want to hear that irritates me, and when Bush doesn't have the year he's supposed to (or Carolina loses a game) I love to remind the people who hyped him (them) from the get go

It's obviously hyperbole but the Giants and the Cowboys off the top of my head because I saw those games in their entirety..

I'd love to continue this because I know the mere mention of Reggie Bush gets peoples panties twisted but I gotta leave work...

i gotta go BACK to work later tonight

but seriously...all this Bush hype DOES irritate me because to me its exactly like a Cowboys or UNC fan, once their season has ended, talking mad shit all throughout the offseason about how they're gonna win it all next year...you dont wanna hear that shit if its not your team...and talk is just talk...I saw Bush in person at the NO @ CAR football game earlier this year...we made him look like a bitch...thats the only time I saw Bush in person...we shut him down like he was a boy amongst men

almost worse than the reggie bush hype, is how whenever espn shows vince young highlights someone says 'if only he had shown a bit of this in college we could've seen this coming' as if espn predicted him as amazing and he got really skipped over in the draft.

well the guy had 1300 total yards, so he obviously doesn't suck. i don't know if he would've topped 1000 if he'd been the primary back, but i think he'll consistently get 1000 per season beginning maybe in 2 years. he's got tiki barber skills with better top end speed, so now all he needs is experience. whether or not he becomes elite is up in the air, but he certainly has the tools

Heck, Bush is on my team (serendipituously (can I say that here? wow)) and the hype annoys me... what's sad is that I wouldn't even care how much he struggled if I didn't have other Saints fans calling me everything except a child of God, all because I was actually fucking mature in my analysis of him instead of falling prey to hypESPN and behaving like a sheltered 17-year-old virgin boy getting his hands on a Playboy and a six-pack of beer...
