^ true, that looked like a nasty splitter, nothing you can do about that. Cubs need to start putting EVERYTHING together and they'll be rather dominant team.

Only the Cubbies can lose a game where the opposing starter is thrown out and their own pitcher pitches a complete game, no to mention no-hit ball into the 8th inning.

Can't fault Zambrano for that loss yesterday. He pitched a great game, and that HR was off of a good pitch. With this offense, runs shouldn't be that hard to come by. Hopefully can take the rubber game today before going to go see Sammy in Arlington.

Michael Barrett dealt to Padres for backup catcher Rob Bowen and minor league outfield prospect Kyler Burke. Thank God we are getting rid of this cancer. His defense is miserable, his IQ is probably around 75, and his bat has been struggling this year. Blanco will be off the DL soon which helps. Koyie Hill may not be the best MLB catcher but at least he has a head on his shoulders. Zambrano and Rich Hill will be happy about this, as well as many other Cub Fans.

PS Good win against Texas last night. Bullpen stepped up big.

^I think maybe that should be that he is a solid defensive catcher, pretty smart guy, and has a good bat to boot.

We'll see how this trade works out, but I would say that many major league pitchers/teams would love to have Barrett behind the plate. I just don't believe he is as bad as you think he is.

He was the number one catcher and couldn't catch for the number one starter. Granted Zambrano is a headcase too but I'd rather keep him than Barrett. Barrett is batting .256 this season with only a .307 OBP. We may not have gotten much in return but I'm still happy to see him out of the dugout and gone from behind the plate. I bet 5 guys by the names of Zambrano, Lilly, Hill, Marshall, and Marquis would agree with me.

Even Barrett is in agreement with me about his mental capacity: http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007/05/30/michael-barrett-is-dumb/

You sure showed him...how dare you get into a fight with one of our best pitchers! We will punish you by sending you to sunny San Diego with hot women, nice weather, and a team that actually has a good chance to make the postseason...that'll show him!

one of the strangest plays I have ever seen. I have never seen a play take 10 minutes to get a ruling on.

Now come the ejections.

I was impressed by that security officer tackling that drunk guy last night going after Howry. That was classic. Howry didn't even flinch either. That was the best part.
